Chapter 1: Lectures

"You're Late." Joel mumbled as Ellie walked through the front door. "Sorry, but I brought some food," Ellie held up the squirrel. "Why were you late? You're usually on time." Joel continued to lecture. "Well, uh... I went... Deeper into the forest." Ellie bit her lip. Joel sighed. "What have we talked about? You know I don't like it when you go out there." Joel crossed his arms. "You can't keep treating me like a baby, Joel! I'm 18 for god sake's!" Ellie yelled. "Do you know what is out there?" Joel's voice deepened. "Like hell I do." Ellie pouted. "I can't get infected!" 

"You know I won't be there every damn time you get in trouble."
"I can take care of myself!"
"By all the times you need my help, are you sure about that?"
"Why are you so protective over me? I'm 18 now, and in your world, I would be a legal adult."
"Forget it."

Joel put his hands up and walked away. "Whatever," Ellie rolled her eyes and slammed the door to her bedroom. "I'm not a baby. So why the hell treat me like one?" Ellie threw her bow and arrows on her bed. Ellie collapsed on her bed and covered her face with a pillow. She sighed and slowly fell asleep.

Ellie went into the forest with her friend Alice. "He said that I can't take care of myself." Ellie shot at some cans with her gun. "Is he sure about that?" Alice laughed. "Who the hell knows. He always has to be so god damn protective over me. I mean c'mon. I'm 18!" Ellie sighed. "Well, show him you can take care of yourself then." Alice shot her gun at the cans as well. "You'd think I showed him enough times I can take care of myself. Even when me and him first met." Ellie grabbed her bow and arrows and walked off. "Hey wait for me!" Alice called running back to Ellie. "The only reason I went deeper was because something... was calling me." Just as Ellie finished talking the rustling in the bushes began. "What the hell was that?" Alice cowered. "See, that's what I mean!" Ellie pointed. "I don't know about you, but I'm going to head back." Alice started to walk off. "I think I'll stay," Ellie called and went to inspect.

Ellie found herself back where she was last time, except that there was more time to inspect. "Hello?" Ellie called. As got closer, a figure appeared out of the shadows.
