Tommy's funeral was held that week. Joel was the one that was most effected by his death. He would sit in his chair and just stare off into space. Ellie would look at him and wonder what he was thinking. "Joel?" Ellie asked one day. But he said nothing. "Joel C'mon." Ellie slightly pushed him. She couldn't take that much isolation from him. Ellie walked out of the house and walked up to Bow. Ellie sighed. "Still staring off into La La land?" Bow rolled his eyes. "Yep," Ellie replied. Bow shrugged, not knowing what to do. Ellie shrugged as well and walked off into Maria's house. Maria seemed to be taking Tommy's death better than Joel. "Hey, Ellie," Maria slightly smiled as Ellie made her way in. Ellie smiled and took a seat down. "Did Tommy ever tell you how Joel got over Sarah death?" Ellie asked. Maria thought for a moment. "In fact, he did. He told me that Joel loves music." Maria smirked. Ellie nodded. "Here this way," Maria smiled and had Ellie follow her.

Ellie walked inside and sighed. She began to sing.

Make the world go away

Get it off my shoulder

Say the things we used to say

And make the world, make it go away

Joel looked over at Ellie and slightly smiled. Joel then began to sing the next verse

Do you remember when you loved me

Before the world took you away

Well if you do, then forgive me

And make the world, make it go away

Ellie smiled, as she had always wanted to here Joel sing many times. They both then sang together.

Make the world go away

Get it off my shoulder

Say the things we used to say

And make the world, make it go away

Now I'm sorry if I hurt you

Let me make it up to you day by day

And if you will please forgive me

And make the world, make it go away

Make the world go away

Get it off my shoulder

Say the things we used to say

And make the world, make it go away

Ellie hugged Joel. "Joel, I'm sorry for loss." . "Well, I still have you," Joel made Ellie look into his eyes. Ellie smiled.

Over the next few weeks, Joel seemed to be improving back to his old self. He remained to guard, but decided to guard the Settlement instead of the Plant. Ellie still worked in the farm, as she seemed satisfied by it. "Hey," Don walked into the barn. Ellie looked up. "Hey." Don kneeled down beside Ellie. "So, How's guarding with Joel?" Ellie asked. "I think he's starting to get a liking to me," Don laughed. Ellie smiled and looked out the opening of the door. She saw two men talking to Joel. Joel showed no emotion. Others gasped in shock. "What's going on?" Don whispered. Ellie shook her head. Joel looked over at Ellie and Don, but gave Don a cold look.

Don gave Ellie a confused look. She shrugged. The two men walked away. Joel stared to walk into the woods. "What's he doing?" Do asked. "I don't know, but follow me." Ellie sprinted to the big gate. "What are you doing?" Bow looked down at the two. "Following Joel." Ellie replied. "Yeah? Well, he's not going to like it when he sees you." Bow opened the door. The two sprinted again towards Joel.

Joel looked behind him to see the two following him. "What the hell are you doing?" Joel gave a cold look. "What the hell are you doing?" Ellie asked back. "Non of your damn business." Joel replied back. "Yes it is. I'm your daughter, so I should be able to know." Ellie sat her hands on her hips. Joel smiled a little and rolled his eyes. "Well I guess we both favor each other by both being stubborn. But if I tell you, you'll refuse." Ellie rolled her eyes. "Tell me." She demanded. "I'm going to his little hunting group. They are the ones on that attacked us." Joel pointed at Don. Don and Ellie looked at each other. "But you'll get killed!" Don and Ellie said at the same time. "Maybe I will. But I need to see what they are up to." Joel started to walk off. "I won't let you!" Ellie cried and pulled on Joel's arm. Joel yanked his arm back and walked faster.
