"You've got to be kidding me..." You breathed out.
Currently, you were standing in the middle of the king's court trying to justify yourself for a crime that you didn't commit. Of course, you've committed crimes before, but this one was totally not your fault. Apparently the king didn't believe you.
"You are sentenced to thirty days in prison, with a hanging at the end of your trial. (Y/f/n) (Y/L/N), is there anything else that you would like to declare before this meeting is adjourned?" The King bellowed out. You just looked up darkly and smirked.
"Yeah... I declare that I be released. Now." You said loudly. The moment the last word left your mouth, ten figures dropped from the walls around you and attacked the guards.
In all the confusion, most of the knights went to protect the king. As for you, you got away from your captors and scanned the crowd for one person in particular. As your (e/c) eyes searched, they finally caught a flash of silver at the edge of the court. You smirked and started running toward him.
You fought your way to this silver haired assassin, and ended up meeting him halfway. You quickly punched a guard hard in the gut, and, as he fell, enveloped your lover in a passionate kiss. He returned the favor, and you all too soon pulled away, breathless.
"Gilen, great to see you too," you muttered. Gilen smiled and wiped the blood from a small cut that had formed on your face. Unfortunately, your moment was ruined as you heard the king yell out.
"GET THOSE ROUGES! DON'T LET THEM OUT OF YOUR SIGHT, OR THE KINGDOM WALLS!"
One look into each other's eyes, and you knew it was time to run. You sent a silent prayer to the gods that your warriors arrived at the rendezvous spot all unharmed. But you knew better than to hope for that much.
Gilen grabbed your hand and the two of you rushed out of the court quickly. You could hear the clanging of armor behind you as the king's guards chased, but you were much faster.
It took only a few minutes and many shortcuts to reach the drawbridge of the kingdom. As Gilen and you approached, the bridge started to be brought up.
Your eyes widened as you knew it was either one or the other; it couldn't be both over. Alas, it seemed Gilen had another idea.
Throughout the years of being together, you had gotten used to Gilen's unrelented silence. But at this moment, you could swear that you heard him mutter a prayer of some sort. For what, you didn't know, but you were about to find out.
As the bridge almost finished closing, the two of you ran up the wood and soon you found yourself flying through the air. You couldn't bring yourself to scream, so you fell wordlessly to the water below. You caught a glimpse of a silver figure above you, but it was soon gone as water swallowed you up.
Your eyes stung from the murky trench water, and the cut on your face itched and burned. You realized that you had been sent over the bridge to survive, not Gilen. He was all you had lived for.
You slowly closed your eyes and accepted your fate of drowning at the bottom of the river. You let yourself sink.
It was amazing to feel weightless. The water made everything silent and serene. Nothing bothered you; nothing could be felt. That's all you wanted. Your only love had sacrificed himself so that you could live a life of.. What exactly? More crime? Running from the law? None of it was worth it without him by your side.
You faintly heard a sound somewhere in the water, but you were pretty sure that you had imagined it. You could feel the last of your air escaping your lungs as darkness surrounded you. Everything was cold and empty. And then...
You were pulled to the surface. Your eyes shot open and you gulped in air. You were breathing hard and you were freezing from the cold night wind mixed with the water. It wasn't until a few seconds later that you noticed someone was holding you.
Your head snapped to the left and you found yourself face to face with those red eyes that you thought you would never see again. Happiness overwhelmed you, and you couldn't help but wrap your arms around him lovingly. Gilen returned the favor and brought the two of you to shore.
Once on land, you tangled your hands in his soaked silver hair and had your lips meet halfway. The kiss showed all of your emotions you two had for each other. It took the cheering of your comrades to break you apart.
"Wooh! Save it for your own private room aboard the ship! We've got quite a long way to go, (Y/n)," you heard one of your warriors exclaim. You just laughed softly and rested your head against your silent knight's.
