hey! this is a requested continuation of the iceland oneshot i wrote a while back
THANKS FOR REQUESTING I HOPE YOU LIKE IT
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*The pale waves lapped the shore as your bare feet sank into the damp sand. You stopped and gazed out at the rolling water, sighing as you curled your toes into the sand.
The beach was one of your favorite places; it helped you think. Recently, there had been a short influx of letters from the strange Iceland character. This caused your boss to send you on a break, so you took the chance to travel to a beachy area in (the country that you live in).
Quite frankly, you missed the feeling you got while reading the letters. When you read them, it gave you a purpose. You had vowed to find the writer, and you would.
Suddenly, you heard a strange clamor behind you. Turning around, you saw a small hut further across the shore. As you squinted your eyes, you could barely make out a group of figures sitting.
Your curiosity got the better of you, and you started to walk toward the group. The sand hid your footsteps, so you were able to get pretty close and hide behind a large rock.
The people sitting around a table had their backs turned to you, so they didn't see you. Those who didn't were too engaged in bickering that they didn't pay attention to you walking toward their group. There seemed to be people of all ethnicities grouped around the table, engrossed in conversation.
There were two blond men going at it at the head of the table; a brown haired man clinging onto another tall man with piercing blue eyes; a blonde woman wearing an apron dress holding onto a tall, kindly looking man; a man with glasses talking to another man with straight black hair and deep brown eyes. Overall, the whole thing looked so unorganized it gave you a headache.
As you were staring and studying the group, someone slid down next to you.
"Are you a country, too?"
This caused you to jump and cover your mouth to prevent yourself from screaming out in surprise. Crouching next to you behind the rock was a boy with incredibly light blond hair and glowing blue eyes. Perched on his shoulder was a puffin with a black chest and a pink bow tie. The boy's eyes had an amused gleam to them.
Your heartbeat slowed and you composed yourself. "Um, no. Is this some kind of RP game that I'm interrupting?"
The boy chuckled a bit and stood up, holding out a hand and lifting you up so that you were standing in front of him. He was a few inches taller than you, but you refused to let yourself be intimidated by his height.
"I don't know what that means, but probably not. This is a world meeting. You must be a human then," the boy tilted his head a little to the side.
The mention of a meeting brought up the memory of the letter you had read once. You quickly shook the idea out of your head; everyone goes to meetings, right? He's probably just an official of government or something.
"Uh, yeah. I'm a human. But, aren't you? What makes you not human?" You asked. For some reason this boy intrigued you.
"I'm a country. Iceland, as a matter of fact."
This sent a jolt through you that vibrated through your spine and tingled through your toes. Iceland. Could it be?
You shifted on your feet and cleared your throat. "Did you say....Iceland?"
"Iceland" nodded slowly, gazing at you with curious eyes. No way. He was just a boy! The letters you had read were older than the hills. He wasn't even twenty yet. And how could he be a country? This was all too weird.
"That's what I am. Or, more like who I am. I apologize, this must surprise you a lot. But don't worry! My friends and I are extremely friendly. It took me years of writing letters, but eventually they found me."
You let in a gasp and fumbled through your pockets, looking for what you had brought with you; what you've been studying for months. Finally reaching into a pocket in your jacket, you produced and unfolded one of the worn letters. You handed it to him with a hopeful look.
"Is-is this you?" You asked, barely keeping your voice from exploding from excitement. Iceland read it over and then nodded, a smile growing on his face.
"Someone did get these letters. You hear that, Mr. Puffin? Someone got the letters! I wasn't alone after all! Why didn't you write back?" Iceland was searching your face with eager eyes and you couldn't help but laugh a little.
"Well, my boss was the one who found them. I just read them. And also, the main mode of transportation was through throwing it into the ocean. I doubt you would've found the reply," you shrugged. Iceland smiled widely at you.
"I would've searched all of the seas if I knew that you were to reply."
You couldn't help but feel some heat rise to your cheeks. You turned away toward where the wind was blowing so you could cool off, but the red was sure to still be there. You nervously laughed and held out a hand, turning back to Iceland.
"Well, my name is (Y/n). It's nice to meet you Iceland. I'm glad I finally found you."
