You took one step over the threshold and had to hold your nose from the potent stench. You coughed a little, but continued down the steps.

The basement was not somewhere that you wanted to ever be, but in order to talk to Flavio you had to go down. It was particularly dark and musty, and Flavio was always making some kind of potions. You learned the hard way that not all of them were good concoctions.

Your feet made the stairs creak and you could hear the sizzling and bubbling of Flavio making something vile. As you reached the end of the worn down stairwell, you could faintly see a mop of blonde hair under a dimming lightbulb.

You cleared your throat and the figure turned around to face you. He was wearing gloves and had on a pair of blue tinted goggles. His designer clothing had been replaced with ripped jeans and a white shirt with eerie red stains. You hoped they were just from tomato sauce.

"What do-a you want, eh?" Flavio asked angrily. "I'm in the middle of something, can't you tell? Make it-a quick girl."

"I just wanted to tell you that your brother's here. I don't know why, and frankly I don't want to know at all," you told him, leaning on the wall next to you and crossing your arms.

Flavio just grunted and turned back around to his project. You heard a faint squeaking noise and looked over his shoulder to see him take a rat from a case and plop it into a liquid on his desk. The rat screamed loudly, but it was soon cut off as Flavio placed a lid on top of the bottle. There was a mad black foaming inside of the bottle and you could see the rat skeleton bobbing up and down in the liquid. It took all your willpower not to throw up right then and there.

Flavio stripped off his rubber gloves and threw them to the side. He started to clean up his station.

"Making acid now are you? And what did that rat ever do to you?" You asked. Flavio chuckled lowly and he turned around to look at you. He had an evil gleam in his eyes.

Slowly, the Italian approached you. You weren't that scared, as you had faced down people scarier than him, but you couldn't help but feel a little frightened at the look in his eyes. Flavio leaned an arm beside you and used his other hand to gently lift up your chin. You stared defiantly into Flavio's eyes, not moving or blinking.

Flavio grinned like a madman and ducked his head down to whisper in your ear.

"Oh, tu sei abbastanza il fastidio, non è vero? Stai attento. Io gestisco io stesso quel tanto che basta per non sciogliere il tuo bel viso come ho fatto quella creatura vile un secondo fa. Okay I lost the translation and put it back in bc I had it copied as Italian and that's what google translate told me that it was so yeah. The first part is supposed to be "oh, you are quite the nuisance, are you not?" But apparently that's not even a thing in Italian idk (sorry all those Italians out there heh)

I'm sorry I haven't been updating but I'm super busy and I have a giant choir contest tomorrow and I've had projects and papers and we bought a house and we're cleaning ours out now so we can move soon so yeah
