3. Horny Teenage Boys and Over-Protective Best Friends

Confession #3: I absolutely despise my Father.

"So how's it going with your dad?" Josh asked, after taking a long, obnoxious sounding slurp of his cup of pepsi.

We were currently sitting together at the town's Local Diner, 'Archie's.' Every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday I worked at the Diner from 4:30-7:30. Josh sometimes came and bought dinner just so he could stick around and we could talk together.

"Not so good," I told him, sighing. "He's actually having dinner guests over tonight."

"You mean Ethan and his father?" Josh asked.

"Sadly, yes," I said.

"Aw, I'm so sorry," Josh told me, sorrow deep in his voice. "Ethan's such a dick."

I chuckled. "Yeah. So is his dad."

Josh shrugs. "Hey..." I started, making him raise his eyebrows at me. "So what was up with the 'intense stare' you were giving Ashley today?"

"What?" He asks, suddenly getting defensive. His cheeks burned with blush. "I wasn't staring at her."

"Oh my gosh!" I exclaimed. "You have a crush on a total Barbie!"

He rolls his eyes, embarrassed with himself. "So maybe I do. What's it to you?"

I shrug. "It was just unexpected. That's all."

"She's in my chemistry class," he explained, a big grin forming on his face. "Mr. Shepards paired us together. She's actually really smart."

I scoff. "I never knew barbies could be smart."

"Don't be so judgemental, Annie," he jokes, lightly punching me in the shoulder.

I fake gasp. "I thought boys weren't supposed to hit girls?"

He chuckles. "Well, I guess I'm in luck. 'Cause you don't really count as a girl."

"Order up!" Archie, the owner/chef of the restaurant calls.

"That was rude," I told Josh, while walking away.

He laughs.

"I get off in ten minutes!" I exclaimed. "Wait for me. We can hang out afterwards."

I grabbed the plate of hashbrowns and eggs and brought it over to its assigned table.

A teenage boy, with blonde hair and blue eyes sat there, talking frantically over the phone about some big upcoming test.

I set the plate down in front of him. Instead of saying anything and interrupting his conversation, I just smiled at him. Immediately he hung up his phone.

"Thanks," he says, referring to his plate of food.

"Yeah," I say. "Breakfast at night, huh?"

He laughs. "Guilty as charged. I've never been a dinner person. Breakfast foods have always been better to me. "

I mentally laugh to myself, realizing that he's the exact opposite of me. I've always been a dinner person, and was never too fond of breakfast foods. If it weren't for cereal and toast, I would probably just eliminate breakfast all together.

"Enjoy," I told him, before walking back over to Josh.

Josh glared at me. "What?" I asked.

"He was totally eye-raping you!" he snarled, his forehead creased into a series of worry lines.
