Just a warning: This chapter is going to be short, and maybe even a tad bit disappointing. Sorry if the shortness of it bugs you!

5. Chemistry, along with a few surprises....

Confession #5: Even though I SUCK at chemistry, I still love it.

The next day at school was a complete drag. We had a big test in Geometry, and it was Lap day in P.E. We all had to run 4 laps around the track. Whoever had the best time was supposedly going to get some sort of reward. Whatever. It's not like I won.

I had been looking forward to Chemistry all day long. It was the one class where I really felt at ease. The teacher, Mr. Shepards, was laid back and down to earth. He didn't grade you on how you did, but on participation. He was actually quite young for a teacher. Only 25, but with the knowledge of a forty year old. At least that's how he put it.

I sucked at chemistry. I honestly did. But I still loved the class. Demi and I had chemistry together all year, and had been lab partners the whole time, so that was definitely a plus. But, also, Matt was in that class, too.

"Alright, Class," Mr. Shepard's said as soon as the bell rang. "Settle down."

We all settled in our seats, and stared up at him intently.

"You guys have been working with beakers and test tubes for weeks straight," he said, sighing. "I think it's time we took a little break."

"Yeah!" Some guy sitting close to the window cheered, causing a few people in the class to laugh.

Mr. Shepards chuckles. "Today, I thought we could collect some samples of the creek water, just for fun." There was a large, steep hill just behind the school. If we walked down about ¼ of a mile, there was a creek.

"Unfortunately I don't have any boots. We're going to need to borrow some from Ms. Hutson's biology class," Mr. Shepards tells us, looking down at a few papers on his desk. Then his head shoots up. "Oh, yes. I almost forgot. Since we will be in the creek, if anyone wishes to hand in their cell phones, so they won't get wet, do it now."

Nobody does, afraid that they'll get in trouble for just having their cell phone in class.

Mr. Shepards laughs. "I'm just going to lock them up in my cupboard, so nobody can steal them. And once we get back I'll hand them back out."

A few students, including me, stood up and dumped their phones into a large plastic bucket.

"Nobody else?" He asks, locking eyes with each and everyone of the students. "No? Alright. Everybody line up."

Down at the creek, we all got plastic buckets and fishing nets. Mr. Shepards told us to collect whatever we could. Crawfish, mayflies; pretty much anything that ended up in our net.

Demi ditched me to go lay down in the sun. Mr. Shepards had gone inside for a few seconds, saying that he needed to do something important, so I guess she decided that it was her perfect opportunity to get a tan.

I continued on working by myself until I felt two strong arms snag around my waist. "So, did you buy that tube of lipstick yet?" Matt asked, whispering in my ear and sending chills down my spine.

I gulp. "I was busy last night."

"What about tonight, then?" He asks.

"I have to work," I say.

He nods. "When will you be able to buy it?"

I chuckle. "If you want it that bad, then you can just go and buy a tube yourself."

"Where am I supposed to find a tube of black lipstick?" he asks, after running a hand seductively down my side.

I shrug out of his arms. "I don't know. I never wear it."

I hear a throat being cleared, look up and see Mr. Shepards staring at the two of us, eyebrows raised. And then I notice how close Matt's standing to me. "Back to work you two," Mr. Shepards chuckles. "There will be no making out as long as I'm around."

After he walks away, an uncontrollable giggle slips out, without me commanding to do so.

"For a teacher," Matt starts. "He's actually pretty cool."

Since it was Tuesday, I had work after school again. The Diner wasn't too busy, but I eventually got bored. Josh didn't stop by, so I never had anybody to talk to.

When I walked through the door the house was still completely dark. I turned on a few lights, took off my jacket, and grabbed a few bites of left over steak from the kitchen.

After that, I ran up to my room, insisting on taking a shower. But when I walked through my door, a sight so paralyzing, so frightening, so terrorizing greeted me. My whole body suddenly went numb.

Okay, so this chapter was really super short! Sorry ): But it WAS a filler. The next one should be better! I honestly didn't know how to write this chapter. Sorry if it wasn't that descriptive or anything. But this chapter doesn't really matter all that much. I mean, later on, it will. A LOT!! You'll have to look back at these later in the story most likely, just so you can make sense of it all. Hopefully I will put up the next chapter tomorrow! But, until then, ENJOY!!
