Neji x Reader Chapter 6: Trump Card

Reader's POV:

'Ugh, this pain, it hurts. Wait, where am I?' I say subconsciously. "I think that she's waking up." a voice said quietly. As I start to wake up, a spiking pain in my rib cage causes me to cough up some blood. "(f/n), what happened?" the same voice from before asked me. I heard a sigh, then strong arms lifting me up. I opened my eyes to see Tenten a couple of feet away from me. Then I look up and see Lee smirking. I could feel a blush of pink spread across my face. "L-Lee, I think I am stable enough to stand now." I kinda stutter. Lee immediately drops me on the ground, the blood from the corners of my mouth now dripping down my chin.

Lee, Tenten, and I were walking back to my apartment complex. From the corner of my eye I see Lee holding a completely blank card in his hand. 'Why would Lee need that?' I asked myself. I shook the thought away, continuing home. "Tenten, Lee, (l/n)- baka!" someone said from behind. We all turned around and to my displeasure it was Neji. "Oh Neji, hi. We were just bringing (f/n) home." Tenten said sweetly. Neji scoffed just hearing my name. "I could care less about that monstrous (l/n). We have a mission and we're all going. Including that baka." he said, meaning me. A huge anger mark approached on my head. 'Gah, can't he just shut up?!' I asked myself angrily. Before I could say anything, Lee piped in. "Now now, let's not fight fellow teammates, (f/n)." I sighed before running back to my apartment. "(f/n), wait up!" I hear Tenten yell.

It took me only 2 minutes to get home to pack my things. "I just became a genin days ago and now I'm going on a mission. How lucky can this get?" I asked myself out loud. 'Knock knock!' the door boomed. A minute later I went to the door: it was Tenten. "Sorry again about you know who, he just doesn't like you." she said the last part softly. I frowned. 'Of course he doesn't like me, for hecks sake he thinks that I 'killed' his own mother. Ugh!' I said subconsciously. "I figured much." is all that I replied. Tenten gave me a pat on the shoulder. "Well I know it's not your fault. But we gotta go, Guy Sensei is waiting for us." Tenten said smiling warmly. "Okay, lets get going!" I slightly yelled.

By the time me and Tenten got the the entrance/exit of the village, Guy Sensei was there doing push ups with Lee and Neji. 'Him, doing push ups with Lee and Guy Sensei. THIS is priceless!' I said to myself. Tenten sweat dropped before saying, "What exactly are you guys doing?" . Lee immediately jumped up. "Just in time, we were just fitting in some last minute push ups." Lee said enthusiastically. Guy Sensei got up as well. "No time Lee, we have to leave as soon as possible." Guy Sensei said. Neji stood up, completely turned away from us. That just made my blood boil. "Can we just get going already?" Neji asked coldly. "First I have to explain this mission." Guy Sensei started to say. "We are supposed to get this important letter to a town just near the boarder of the fire country. The only thing is that we are ABSOLUTELY forbidden from opening it. Do you get our mission now?" he finished. We all nodded to show that we understood. "Okay, then lets go!!" Guy Sensei hollered. Tenten looked back at Lee. My curiosity got the best of me. "Lee, why in the world do you have a blank card?" I whispered to him. He looked at me and sighed. "I found it earlier after fighting that rogue ninja. Why so curious?" he asked me. "I'm just curious, cause it can be some type of trap." I pointed out. "What card?" .
