*Your POV*
When you had shown up at Steve's he had insisted on reporting to S.H.I.E.L.D's immediately. You of course had agreed. It was strange enough that you chose to reveal yourself to Steve rather than Chris; you didn't need anyone questioning why you refused to go to S.H.I.E.L.D. You were currently sitting in one of S.H.I.E.L.D's interrogation rooms waiting for Fury to return. You suspected Fury knew you weren't being honest with him. You weren't but you couldn't let him find out where you really were not if the plan was going to work. He'd been grilling you about how you got back for over an hour. Really all it was was the same few questions over and over worded differently each time. He was trying to get you to slip up, make a mistake or reveal everything. Hayden had anticipated this and had prepared you to answer anything. He had made you memorize the cover story for where you had beenz and had happened until you could repeat it backwards.
Fury walked back into the room holding a file and sat back down across from you. "[Y/n], well it looks like we're done here. Of course if you remember anything else come talk to me. Chris and Steve are waiting for you outside to take you home."
"Thank you Director. I'll see you around." You say getting up to leave.
"Completely off the records [y/n] I believe you're holding something back. So let me just remind you that I will find out if you are. It will make both of our lives alot easier if you tell me the truth."
"I'm not holding g anything back sir. But if something comes back to me I'll be sure to tell you first." With that you turn and leave to find Steve and Chris.
When you found the pair Chris rushed forward and wrapped you in a tight embrace. You wanted to enjoy it wanted to go home with him live like you had every other day ,but you couldn't forget that he was your handler. You couldn't help wondering how much had been real and how much had been fake. Did you even want to know?
"[Y/n] are you even listening?" Chris asked pulling you out of your thoughts.
"I'm sorry I just ya know have alot on my mind," you respond.
"It's fine I understand. I was asking if you wanted to go eat someplace of go home and have Steve and I cook you something."
"I'd rather ya know go home. I don't really want to go out anywhere just yet plus I want to be able to relax."
"Well sounds like a plan," Chris says flashing a smile.
*Home*
When you got home Steve insist that he cook while you and Chris could have a chance to talk. The place looked like a tornado had come through. None of the plants had been watered, papers and mail were scattered throughout the hallway, and blankets and clothes were piled up in the corner of the living room.
"Um sorry about the mess. Cleaning really hasn't been my top priority lately. Steve and I were going to do some cleaning this afternoon ,but ya know you came back," Chris says scratching the back of his neck.
"It's fine. Steve told me how worried you were on the way to HQ, and that Fury suspended you from S.H.I.E.L.D because you were so worried."
"Yeah and talking about Steve. Why did you go to his house instead of ours? I mean I don't want to push you or anything, but I'm just confused."
"Chris I- I don't have an answer for that. His house was the closest to where they left me. I didn't have any money on me so I couldn't catch a cab or ride the bus to get here," you lie.
Hayden's men had left you about a block from the house you shared with Chris, but you couldn't face him you were to angry,after what you had learned. Now you weren't as angry after seeing how worried he was, but that,didn't change the fact that he had lied to you. So you went to Steve's instead and broke in, but he didn't tell anyone that. When you got to S.H.I.E.L.D HQ he told them he had found you outside his apartment door. Why did he lie?
You spent the next hour telling him the same thing you told Fury only Chris seemed to believe you. Halfway through you noticed Steve listening form the doorway. He wasn't buying any of it. When you finished he called out that dinner was ready.
*After Dinner*
When Steve left he motioned for you to follow him outside. When you walked out to the porch he lead you to a spot somewhere in the middle of the lawn.
"Steve why did you want to talk here. Why can't we talk on the porch?"
"[Y/n] you of all people should know that S.H.I.E.L.D has this place is bugged."
"So what do you want to talk about that you don't want S.H.I.E.L.D to know about."
"The same thing you don't want them to know. Where you really were. I know you're lying and I want to know why."
"Find but it's a long story. Can we meet somewhere tomorrow and talk then?"
"Fine I know a place. I'll send a friend to come pick you up tomorrow afternoon."
"OK see you then." With that the two of you separated and you went back inside.
"Where'd you go [y/n]?" Chris asked startling you.
"We were just talking. He just wanted to tell me he was glad I was safe."
"Yeah we all are," he says as he pulls you into his arms.
