Kha stood up after Nawete disappeared and winced as the weight pushed against his knee wound, causing the pain he felt.
"Stupid wound." He snapped harshly to himself.
Your leg wound will heal tonight-completely. Kha frowned at the slight memory he had of the goddess speaking. What was her name?
Ametis-Ra.
He felt the sides of his mouth twitch as a smile formed on his lips. She was one unique goddess. And she was also his enemy. Well, I could never asked for a better enemy, his thoughts erupted.
He lifted his arm and pulled out the cobra armlet she had given him as a parting gift. Too generous...or was it something else?
She was the daughter of Horus and also Hathor, the goddess of funeral rites and love. Could she have bewitched him by her precious golden armlet gift or even by her affection?
Kha shook his head.
He was thinking too much into the situation that he didn't realize Nawete had slipped back into the tent and was watching him intently with dark humour in her coal black eyes.
"Wow. That certainly is a fancy armlet you have there, my lord."
Kha smiled and turned to her.
"Where are my prisoners?"
Nawete lifted her head to the exit, "they stand outside as we speak. Did she give it to you?" She added.
"Nephthys? No. This is mine," Kha said avoiding the annoying piercing gaze from the sorceress.
"I meant the daughter of Horus. I saw her kiss you," she hissed accusingly. "And you kissed her back!"
"What is it to you? I needed something and that was the only way she could give it to me. She did not know who I really was."
Nawete moved closer to Kha with an evil smile, "so the King's daughter is a whore?"
Normally Kha wouldn't care less but something inside him snapped. Nawete was asking for trouble and he didn't like it one bit.
He turned with a forced smile, "didn't I tell you to go get up a goat's ass?"
Nawete fumed.
Kha chuckled and pushed past her.
The setting sun outside cast a long shadow across his face, highlighting Kha's scar and making his image look far handsome and scarier than usual.
The serious god passed through the crowd where everyone bowed in fear. He walked over the desert and looked at the new kingdom he just conquered. It certainly brought him closer to his ultimate goal.
With it's outer high walls, safeguarding the inside from the outside--however Nawete managed to inflitrate the walls with his army, he didn't know but it was certainly a clean job.
Behind him he heard loud murmers from his soldiers, to which he responded by turning around and coming face to face with eight deities. Five were from the fallen kingdom and the other three...were with the allied armies.
Unlike the mortals and insignificant immortals that fought and were either killed or bewitched into his army, Kha had reasons for always taking a few personal hostages from his battles. Those that had information or anything that would be an asset to Kha.
"Master," chirped Nawete with gleaming eyes. "These are the specific individuals you wanted as your own personal prisoners."
Kha placed his hands behind his back and observed the line of immortals that stood before him. He started walking down the line, stopping once to raise a frightened goddess's chin up to look at him.
She spat on him and later paid the price by having an angry Nawete slap her!
Kha, slightly amused continued walking down the line until he stopped by a particular god.
"I thought your body would be rotting in the Nile by now. Doesn't the great Horus yet know his son fought beside me in order to take out Lower Egypt?" Kha smiled and looked into the dim golden eyes of the god.
All the other deities also turned to stare in shock! Nawete's cackling could be heard in the background.
The god raised his head, "you forced me to do so Kha. I didn't realize you were after Set and stealing the throne of Egypt."
"We are friends, Ihy."
"Were," Ihy corrected angrily. His eyes glaring at Kha from under his worn out battle hair. "We stopped being friends long ago when I discovered treason in you!"
Kha chuckled deeply.
"Oh don't tell me you have not changed your mind. Are you forgetting something or rather...someone?" He asked placing a hand onto Ihy's shoulder.
"That sister of yours is everything Horus and Hathor could ever want," Kha continued. "She is the prophesied one to kill me—now, we all know that won't be true—but she is the favorite. What about that throne you always wanted?"
"You cannot have three different people wanting the throne—it is mad. So count me out," snarled Ihy.
"Hey snappy god! I know everything in your head," mused Nawete moving closer to Ihy and Kha. "I know your desires—it is what fuels you to fight for Egypt to the end because you hope that destiny would write a new course for you. Defend Egypt against the threat and receive rightful claim to the throne."
"No."
Nawete jabbed a finger at his chest, "you are torn, god."
"Nawete! Get away from him. He is mine and we have a lot to talk about," Kha stated flicking Nawete's arm to her side.
"I have nothing to discuss with you—you deluded monster!"
"I don't see how my older brother came to be in this conversation," Kha replied smartly. "And we do have a lot to talk about brother...like your beautiful sister."
Ihy edged towards Kha with a warning look all over his face, but Kha only chuckled and moved back as two guards obstructed Ihy by crossing their spears in front of him.
Kha then turned to Nawete and nodded, "you know what you have to do. Don't disappoint me.
Nawete smiled and bowed her head slightly, "of course my lord."
Kha pushed through the crowd and climbed onto his chariot drawn by two huge winged panthers. The huge ferocious beasts roared as they felt their master distribute his weight evenly on the stand and grip the reins.
After giving orders for the army to move out and surround the Southern kingdom's walls, he shouted for Nawete.
"Just a moment my lord," she answered standing before Ihy.
Nawete reached up and cupped Ihy's hallowed cheeks in her hands before glancing with such hidden emotion into his eyes.
"You will follow Kha—the son of Set—until the very end," she said with such cautiousness in her lust-filled voice. As her eyes started to dim, her hands shook violently.
The power she used was far too much, he was stronger and so Nawete needed all her strength to finish the command from Kha.
She stumbled backwards and wiped her forehead.
"Lead the army into the gates but leave the rest to camp outside the kingdom, for we are many," Nawete said to Ihy straightforwardly.
Everyone watched, including the imprisoned deities. Their hearts hanging at the tip of their tongues.
"Alright Nawete," Ihy responded quietly but clearly.
The immortals were beyond horrified as they stared at the son of Horus. He was mad! How could he be like this?
"Thank you, Ihy," Nawete smiled before touching his cold cheeks and then stumbling over to meet Kha. She held onto his strong arms as he circled his other around her waist and helped the drained sorceress onto the chariot.
He turned around and nodded to Ihy who returned the nod and then shouted a command to the army.
Kha yanked the reins and the beasts started running over the sand, lifting into the sky at the last moment. Beside him, Nawete weakly clasped her arms around Kha's chest and held on for dear life.
Back on the ground, Ihy quickly took possession of a chariot and rode out of the desert towards the new kingdom, behind him the vast number of Kha's troops following.
