A BUNCH OF FLOWERS LIE IN THE SINK, NORMA COURTLY, 60 YEARS, LOOKS FOR SOMETHING INSIDE THE CUPBOARDS. SHE FINDS AN EMPTY BEER CAN IN THE METICULOUSLY TIDY CABINETS.
NORMA: Fancy keeping this.
NORMA PUTS THE CAN DOWN AND CONTINUES LOOKING IN THE CABINETS UNTIL SHE FINDS A VASE.
NORMA: God, Joyce you kept your kitchen so tidy. Everything in its place.
NORMA ARRANGES FLOWERS IN THE VASE.
NORMA: So sterile. The life washed out of everything. What happened to Joyce the
party girl? What went wrong Joyce? Perhaps if Vernon had made more effort
with Martin and that blasted conservatory! The stress did for you.
NORMA FINISHES ARRANGING THE FLOWERS AND LEAVES TAKING THEM AND THE EMPTY BEER CAN THROUGH A SHEET CURTAIN THAT PARTITIONS OFF PART OF THE KITCHEN.
