A Little Word Called Love

Part 16: Hello, I'm William.

Jorge woke up suddenly and his first thought was to turn on the radio "Hello? Are you there?"

"Yes," he responded almost immediately "Your instructions for today are to continue along the road until you reach a bridge that should be in tact. I'm not so sure, but if it isn't there is another thing that will get you across. Safe travels." He turned off the radio and so did Jorge knowing what they have to do now.

Jorge began to think when Lilith got up calmly and she said "Let's get ready then." She woke up Crystal by gently pushing her side to side. Once they got there gear on there was no more use to be where they were so they pressed on to the bridge.

"Hello again, it July 16th at around 9:46 AM and we have just woken up and are about to head out. Next place we have to go is a bridge just up the road a little bit more. I will update when more developments come."

"Hopefully it's in tact," Jorge stated.

"What are the chances of the others being there?"

"Not likely," Jorge said "John would have pressed on..I hope."

*ABOUT 30 MINUTES LATER*

They tread up onto the bridge to see four infectors standing around the broken down cars. Some infectors were lying dead around their feet and blood was seen splattered everywhere around the dead beasts. Lilith and Jorge quickly took out the standing infectors except for one. It turned around to reveal Nik, turned into an infector.

"Oh my god..." Lilith and Jorge were shocked and look back at Crystal who was also standing in disbelief. She knew what she had to do so Lilith and Jorge backed away to let her stab him in the head. As soon as the body dropped she began to cry with him in her arms.

"They were here..."Jorge stated as he pointed out a dead fire on the ground.

Lilith went to comfort Crystal as Jorge turned on his radio "The other half of the bridge is collapsed."

"I see..." he said "Well there is always the the other solution."

"What might that be?"

"Look below the bridge. What do you see?"

He walked over the edge and stated "A few sunken cars, some dead infectors, and half of a collapsed bridge."

"Yes and what are those thing in?"

"The water..."

"Exactly."

"You want us to swim?"

"You want to get to safety right?"

Lilith began to pay attention to their conversation.

"Either take the fast but tough way and dive in or long and safe way and go around the bridge from shore to shore. That's the only choice you have really. Contact me once you cross, make sure to keep the radio dry."

"My father actually sprayed the two radios with this waterproof solvent. Now is a great time to test it."

"Congratulations, less you must worry about," the man turned off his radio.

"Well," Jorge sighed "I don't know about you, but I have always wanted to do this." He threw his stuff over the edge and dove right in following it. A splash was made and Jorge was emerged in the water; he opened his eyes for a quick second to see the destruction of the bridge and destroyed cars piled up at the bottom. Along with dead infector bodies drifting with the water. Once he surfaced he immediately lifted his stuff up from the water and slowly made his was for the shore across the way.

Lilith wanted to talk to Crystal "Okay you must not focus on this right now. You must follow us to get to the other side so we can move on." 

She wouldn't budge "You know I understand how this feels so you gotta trust me on this. Now take my hand and lets go," Lilith held out her hand to help her.

She wiped her tears away, nodded, and held Lilith's hand to stand up.

"Are you ready?" she asked.

"Yes," Crystal said bravely. She went in first before Lilith threw over her stuff over and landed safely in the water. Consecutively Lilith followed her holding the camera up as much as possible. She succeeded in keeping the camera dry.  When everyone was at the shore Jorge contacted the man saying "The solvent worked."

"It seems so," he responded "Now from here you are going to go along the beach until you see a memorial for a man named Nathan Jaks. He was involved in a shark attack in that area of the beach the memorial is placed exactly where he died when they dragged him on the beach trying to give him emergency care before medical teams arrived...sad story. However, from there you will go back on to the street and into a nearby apartment building and I will be waiting in a medical center that is 3 stories high. Good luck."

"Alright we have our destination, lets go."

"Its still the same day but at 10:25 AM. The half of the bridge is collapsed," she pointed the camera to the collapsed bridge and said "We jumped from the end of that side to the water, swam to the shore and right now are headed down the beach to this medical center where this guy is supposed to meet us."

*MEANWHILE*

"Good job William on leading them into my trap," said The Savior pointing a gun at William's head "You fucking traitor! Is it really worth dying for your friends to disobey me?"

"With how much I love them yes, I would die for them."

Savior took a big swing at William's face leaving a black eye "Love gets you no where you ignorant bastard!"

Savior just stood up and began to walk away when he was stopped by William "Oh is that right Marshall Lee."

Marshall took his gun and aimed it at William who stood there with no expression "What did you call me? I should kill you now...but I can't," he put his gun away "Just get to the medical center. Remember William we are watching you."

The group eventually tread across the beach to reach the memorial William was talking about, then they turned onto the street to find the medical center which was across the street. They walked in the lobby with their guns drawn ready to fight when a figure came from the door which had bold letters "EMERGENCY" above it. He sparked a lighter and cigarette to gain their attention. The man came into the light to reveal himself.

"Hello, I'm William," he held his head down as he said "I'm sorry Lilith...they caught me helping you guys and made me lead you into a trap. This whole building is surrounded by his men."

*5 MINUTES LATER*

Lilith turned on the camera  "Out of all the things that could have happened...why this? Only me, Jorge, and Crystal are trapped in a dark room surrounded by Saviors. I'm not sure how far I'm gonna live after this, but just know I pushed on as far as I can and I hope I didn't fail them...all the ones we lost."
