"Roommate." Sarah smiled at me and I let out a long breath of air before placing my scissors back on my desk.
"You scared me." I placed a hand over my heart in an attempt to slow it down.
"I can see that." She giggled and walked over to me, putting her hand out for me to shake. "Lovely to meet you. Piper right?"
I nodded. "Nice to meet you too." I smiled warmly at my new roommate and she smiled back.
"So you got in late last night." She heard that? "Who's the guy?"
"Who Jace? He's just a friend." I explained.
"An older friend I see." She wiggled her eyebrows at me and I laughed.
"Yes, he's a senior."
"A senior? So that hunk of meat goes here?"
"Sarah!" I shrieked. I liked her already. "But yes. He attends UCLA."
"Thank the lords."
"Thank the lords?" I repeated.
"Well I believe that there are multiple gods and it wouldn't be right to just thank one now would it?"
"I guess it wouldn't." I agreed.
"So how did you two meet?"
"You really like him, don't you?" I playfully nudged her shoulder.
"I just think he's extremely cute."
"But it was dark when he bought me here. How could you even see him?" I was still tired so I crawled back into my bed, as did Sarah.
"When it comes to guys I have an infrared setting." She joked and I laughed.
"Basically he was making fun of me because of my coffee order, long story short we became friends."
"Aww. That's so cute. What an adorable story to tell your children!" She beamed and if I had of been drinking I would have spat it out.
"Children! Jace and I aren't even together. I don't feel that way about him."
"We'll see." She smirked at me and I covered my face with my pillow in embarrassment.
When I woke up early the next morning I groaned in annoyance. I was still quite tired from last night. Sarah and I talked for another hour before I fell asleep and I just wanted to go back to sleep.
No matter how hard I tried my body wouldn't register how tired I was so I dragged myself out of bed and over to the communal shower blocks.
I had a long cold shower before quietly reentering the dorm room where Sarah was still fast asleep. I applied foundation and mascara before putting on a black singlet and jeans with a gray cardigan and boots. I shoved my things into a small bag and headed out of the dorm.
"Piper?" I stepped back at the voice.
"Jace!" People really need to stop sneaking up on me. "Oh my god! What happened to you?"
Taking in his appearance he had a black eye, a bruised cheek and his jaw line was purple. I put my hand up to his face and ran my thumb over cheek. He whined slightly but didn't pull away.
"Who did this to you?" I asked softly.
"That's not why I came here Piper."
"Who did this to you?" I persisted.
"You're not going to like it." He was stalling.
"Tell me."
"Harry." I removed my hand from his face.
"Harry did this?" He nodded. "Why would he do that to you?"
"Because he's a jerk and thinks he can do whatever the hell he wants."
I wondered if this had something to do with me? Harry and I had a pretty heated fight yesterday and I'm not sure what he's capable of.
"I don't believe this! How could he do this to you? I'm going to kill him!" I slung my bag further over my shoulder and headed in the direction of my car.
"Where are you going Piper?" He called after me.
"To murder a curly haired jerk." I informed Jace before slamming my car door shut and speeding off of campus.
Once I reached Harry's I practically flew to the front door. I rang the door bell and when he came to the door I immediately slapped him across the face.
"How could you?! How could you do that to him?!" I screamed in his face. I went to slap him again but he grabbed my hand before I could. "Let go of me!"
"If I do that than you're just going to slap me again." He voice was low and calm and it only annoyed me more.
"Yeah, I will. Now let go of me so I can do it." I attempted to break free but he was stronger than me and I couldn't.
"I can't let you do that Piper."
"Why, because you don't deserve it? Because you do."
"Probably." He almost smirked at me which made me want hit him even more.
"Let me go!" I yelled and this time he listened. "Now do you want to try to explain to me what the hell happened?"
He nodded and stepped aside so I could enter. As I walked past him I couldn't help but smell the sweet scent coming from the boy I so often yelled at. He smelt of vanilla and I had to remind myself that I was mad at him.
I strode into the kitchen and sat on a stool at the bench.
"Please, make yourself at home."
"Oh no. You don't get to be sarcastic to me. You need to shut up and tell me why you beat the crap out of Jace."
"It's kind of hard to shut up and speak at the same time." He remarked. I glared at his attempt of a joke. "Sorry."
"You should be." I snapped.
"I'm not going to tell you anything until you stop being so short with me."
"I can be as short with you as I want! I'll be so short that you won't even be able to see me!" I shouted to which Harry laughed causing my anger to rise. "What are you laughing at? This isn't funny."
"No, but your insults are."
"That's it. Goodbye Harry." I stood up but before I could reach the door Harry gently grabbed my arm to prevent me from going anywhere.
"Sit... please?"
I debated whether or not to hear him out before deciding that I wanted to know his explanation.
"Fine." I sat back on the stool and prepared myself for whatever explanation Harry may throw at me.
