Chapter 9

The next week came and went. | barely talked to Liam. He stopped eating lunch with Grace, Luke and Ben, so I joined there table again.

Everytime I saw Liam he seemed to be with Jenny, and I couldn’t help but feel a pang of jealousy. I still liked him; how could I not, he was perfect for me. Grace wasn’t helping; all she talked about was me getting back together with Liam or about Luke. I know she was just trying to be nice but I couldn’t constantly be reminded of him.

Saturday finally came; I had arranged to go out with Grace, Luke, Ben and Maddy. I knew I would be the third wheel but I didn’t care. I was tired of sitting at home, thinking about Liam.

I arrived at Grace’s house just after seven. Luke and Ben were coming at eight, to give us time to get ready.

“Megan!” She squealed as she flung the door open, pulling me into her arms.

“Hey Grace.” I laughed, as I took a step back.

“Maddy is upstairs, already getting ready.” Grace said, grabbing my hand and pulling me up the stairs. We reached her room, just as Maddy stepped out of the bathroom. Grace and I froze, our mouths dropping open.

“Wow.” Grace murmured.

“Ben is one lucky guy.” I said.

“You look stunning!” Grace shrieked, flinging her arms around Maddy. She was very excited tonight.

“Thanks!” Maddy laughed, once Grace had stepped back.

“Me next!” She squealed grabbing her dress and bounding into the bathroom.

Luke and Ben arrived at eight, and immediately after the couples had made out for a while, we made our way to the club. We slipped into the same booth, at the back of the club, as on the night of my birthday. My stomach flipped, as I thought about how me and Liam had danced that night.

“Drinks?” I asked, looking around the table.

“Yep.” They all said in synchronisation.

I reached the bar and shouted at the bar tender, the club was crowded tonight and he was running around, trying to serve everyone.

“Five cocktails!” I yelled above the noise of the club.

“Hold on a minutes.” He replied, spinning round to give me an apologetic smile. My breath caught in my throat when I saw him. He looked around nineteen or twenty, with dark brown hair and piercing blue eyes. His hair swept across his forehead, and dimples formed as he smiled at me. His eyes still hadn’t left mine, when an angry customer yelled at him. He turned around and ran over to the other side of the bar. I let out a breath; I didn’t know I had been holding, he was gorgeous.  He was no Liam but he was definitely something.

“So what is you wanted?” He asked his voice low and husky.

“Urm..” I stuttered. “Five cocktails”, I finally responded, my eyes locked to his.

“No problem.” He smiled, before spinning around and grabbing five glasses.  I couldn’t help but stair at his back, you could tell he had a toned body under his tight black t-shirt.

All too soon he came back with the drinks. He barely looked at me before sprinting off to help the next customer. I grabbed the drinks, and made my way over to our booth. I plonked the drinks down on the table, before glancing down at my hand.
