Nothing interesting will ever happen to me. Me, boring, old Jessica Harding. I live as an only child with both my parents in the country. No neighbors for miles around, just nothingness. My mother works on a computer, nothing interesting. My father takes care of most of our farm.

But I live for books. Books of all kinds. Sci-Fi, Classics, Mysteries, Action, Fantasy, all of 'em! Sometimes it I wish I could sink into one of my books to have an adventure. I could go into "Harry Potter", and meet Hermione, battle Voldemort, and live a wizarding life. Or sink into "Warrior Cats", and live as a cat, catch my own food, and battle other cats threatening my Clan.

But none of that will ever happen to boring, old, Jessica Harding. If only.
Now, I wouldn't have anything to do-except read, of course-if it weren't for the farm. So we have the usually daily chores, such as collecting the chicken eggs, milking the cows, watering the plants (when it's in season), and feeding all the animals. But in between that, I somehow have time to read at least a book a day. And for my 11th birthday, my mother gave me a notebook, which I write in everyday. Here's today's entry:

August 18, 2002
Hello! Today I collected 7 chicken eggs.  I think that mom will be pleased enough today to let us have a 2 course meal tonight! We hardly ever have it... And I finally found that piece of paper that I hid when I was 4 years old. I barely knew how to write, but I wrote "Te Cows Go Mo Bi: Jesica". I think I intended to write a story, but never did. Someday, whether in this notebook, or another, I would like to write a story. I'm very excited, because my birthday is in exactly a week! Today in homeschool I learned that Volume=Length*Width*Height or Volume=Base*Height is the formula for to get the volume for rectangular prisms and that base is Length*Width. That's all for now, so bye!

So there you have it. As I mentioned, my birthday is in a week! I'll be turning 12 and our family has a tradition of giving one big present and a few small presents on someone's birthday. I can hardly wait!
