I forgot how much in the middle of nowhere I lived. Miles and miles from civilization. I decided that I could go to the train tracks and wait for it to come by the next day to see if anyone noticed me. I'm pretty sure that the train tracks were a 1/2 mile to a mile from my house.
That couldn't take more than 2 days, could it? I set off in the direction that I knew the train tracks were in. It was a very boring walk by myself, alone with my thoughts. If only I had someone to talk to.

Night had fallen. I pulled my singed blanket, flashlight, Chip, and my china doll out of my bag. As I laid down I wondered, not for the first time that day, what would become of me. There's a possibility that both my parents had just died, and I had nowhere to go. Tomorrow evening I would be at the train tracks. They were the only civilization that I would be able to get to on foot.
My feet were starting to hurt, since I had been wearing converse when I left the house, and converse weren't good for walking far distances because my low-tops had no ankle support. My wavy red hair was getting dirty; I hadn't washed for 2 days now. I folded my blanket up into a sleeping bag, crawled into it, and fell asleep almost immediately.

When I woke up, the sun was almost directly above me in the sky. For a moment I was confused of why I wasn't in my bed at home. Then I remembered what happened, and I hugged my doll closer. I decided I needed to get moving, because it was already really late.
But then my stomach growled. I was hungry and thirsty. I dug through my bag, pulled out a juice pouch and crackers. When I put the crackers in my mouth, I tried to savor them, but I was to hungry. I swallowed half the crackers whole, and the other half I chewed for a half a second. Then swallowed all the juice in one gulp, and put all my trash/packaging in a side pocket of my bag.
There was no more time to be wasted. I had to get moving. I stood up, and started walking again.
