I was plodding along, thinking about how quickly my life had changed from boring to saddening when I found it. Yes indeed, I had found a bike. And old one, no doubt, but all the same, it was a bike.

A bike is a bike. So of course, I immediately grabbed it and hopped on it. I had learned to ride a bike when I was 4 years old, but this bike had a different build. I studied it, and once I got the gist of it, hopped on.

Oh, I traveled so much faster on this marvelous bike. I reached the train tracks by 2:00pm and sat down to wait. I had roughly 19 1/2 hours early until the train came by, since it usually went by at around 9:15am.

I had fallen asleep, and I started dreaming.

I was racing along the train tracks, trying to keep up with the train. It was speeding up, faster than I could go on my bike. But I looked down, and saw I was on a motorcycle.

"Wait! Wait!" I yelled at the train, though there was nobody to hear me.

The scene changed. I was walking by the ruins of my house, wearing all black. I sneered in disgust. Then I wondered why I was sneering at my beloved house.

The scene changed again. All I could see was darkness. Black, everywhere.

I woke. My breathing became ragged as I remembered my dream from the night before. What could it mean?

I jumped up. There was only one way to find out. It was 9:00am. The train would come in 15 minutes. I busied myself by trying to flatten my hair by licking my hands, then rubbing them over my head. After 5 minutes of unsuccessful work, I gave up and started putting everything in my bag again, having a bit more food and drink.

When 9:14 arrived, I hopped on my bike, ready to start moving at the slightest sound. The train zoomed by, slower than I would have expected. I rode along side one of the train cars, yelling, "Wait! Please stop! I need help!"

The train miraculously stopped after about 10 minutes of riding and screaming at the top of my lungs. Then I saw why. It was a train station! I could hardly believe my eyes. I hopped on, and what greeted me made me want to jump right back out again.
