"I'm Jessica and um I'm visiting my grandparents who live in the countryside and I stopped here on my way. I heard of the delicious chocolate from this town and I begged my parents to stop here." Hunt gives me a pointed look, then turns away. Hunt's mother shrugs and takes off her shoes.
I sigh as she says, "Well that's great. You can call me Emily. I assume you know by now that I am Thomas's mother. Anyway, why are we just standing around? Let me get you some of that 'delicious chocolate' you were talking about."
"Oh I ah-" Hunt glares at me which I take to mean that I don't know it's a family business. "You have some extra?"
"Yes of course dear. It's a family business, didn't you know? Well up until now anyway. So Thomas goes over there quite often and of course he can't resist anything. I think he's the first person in the whole town to try a new chocolate when there's a new or special chocolate available," She says as she rummages in the fridge. "Now would you like chocolate, vanilla, chocolate with rainbow sprinkles, mint chocolate, peanut butter, peanut butter chocolate, surprise filled, fruity-"
"I'll take peanut butter chocolate, thanks."
"Of course dear! Milk or water? Juice makes the chocolate taste odd."
"Umm I'll have water."
"Now how did you end up sitting in our house watching tv, with my son? I must, such odd circumstances for a visitor. Thomas doesn't have much friends."
"Oh I uh just-" Hunt glares at me again. "Well my parents and I were looking in a few stores, and my parents saw someone the knew. So they let me go looking around town on my own while they caught up with their friend, and meet them by our car around 7 or 8 tonight. But I wasn't sure where our car was anymore, so I found Hunt and he offered to help me. But I don't need to leave until tonight so I was wondering if he'd show me around after you got back," I lie inconspicuously. Hunt looks at me, surprised I could tell such a good lie. I let out a little laugh as Emily looks between us.
"Oh of course, of course. And if your family needs somewhere to stay the night, there's a Bed and Breakfast just down the road."
"Thank you," I say, even though I know it won't be necessary.
