"Well you two better run along if you are to see everything before you need to meet your parents. Oh, and here's a little money in case you need anything," she says as soon as I finish my chocolate, handing over twenty-five dollars. Hunt grabs my arm and pulls me out the door, barely stopping to wave goodbye. When the door slams shut, we are already hurrying along the road that loads toward what I assume is the main part of town.

"Before we do anything, I need to ask the stupid question. Why did you not go to the police?" Hunt says, turning to me.

As country girl, I have never seen police however I've read about them in my many books. They never seemed very helpful, so I never bothered with them. Apparently I should have. "I uh... Well they never seemed very useful in books so um I didn't really think to..." Hunt sighs deeply, and groans.

"You didn't think that maybe-you know police aren't an option anymore. But what exactly are we trying to do here?"

"I need to find my parents. I know they didn't die."

"Look, Jess, I know you say that they survived, but wouldn't you have seen then when you left? Wouldn't they have heard you when you called out or wouldn't you have seen them when you collected supplies?"

"I... Maybe they were unconscious..." I trail off, not wanting to think of what could have happened. "No... No. I saw my mother seconds, seconds before the explosion happened."

"But your father was still in there wasn't he?"

"Stop! I don't want to talk about what might have happened, we need to figure out what to do." Hunt fell silent and I stared down at my shoes. The new converse were now covered in dried dirt and we're kicking up clouds of dust.

"Crap!" Hunt suddenly exclaims.

"What? What is it?" I whirl to my side, facing him. "What happened?"

"You told my Grandfather the truth, did you not?" I nod. "However when my mother came home, we told her a huge lie.  My Grandfather closes at six, and leave the store at six-thirty. Every night, he comes to my house for dinner and game, and then goes home. He's definitely going to bring up the little redhead that Hunt took home."

"Oh no. Oh no, oh no, oh no. I take it your mom doesn't like being lied to?"

"Nope." Hunt replied, popping the p. "We need to make a plan. Let's see...it's 2:50 right now. So I say we run back to the house, you grab your bag and I'll grab my money, and I'll stuff somethings into a backpack while she's not looking. Then we sprint into town, and buy some supplies that I can't take from my house. Lastly, you wait in my hideout until I can get back out again. Any questions?"

"Uh just one. You're coming with me?"

"What, you thought I would just shove you back in that must old train and say 'Salute!'?"

"Oh I just didn't think... Never mind. Uh one last question... What state are we in?"

Hunt burst out laughing. "Oklahoma, of course!"

"Wait really? I thought I was in Utah!"

"Nah I'm joking we are in Utah. How come you needed to ask that question in the first place?

"I wasn't sure if I'd accidentally crossed the border on the train. But Oklahoma is nowhere near Utah."

"Ok then. Just get moving." We turned around and sprinted back down the deserted path to his house keeping pace with each other.
