"Percy, your drooling again" I tell him, wacking his back as I drive.
"Wasafhu?" He asks, shooting up in his seat.
"Thats the THIRD time today!" I groan. Percy stores way to much saliva in his mouth before he sleeps.
"Sorry. I can't excatly swallow every second until I go to sleep" Percy says, lying back down.
Leo was fidgeting with a couple of wires and gears, making a mini centaur.
"Leo, I know your nervous. Whats up?" I ask.
"No, nothing. I am compleatly fine and there is no need to worry because I am compleatly fine and I me-"
"Leo, you rant when your nervous. Whats up?"
He sighs. "We're going to Chicago. It's... It's where bad things happened. On my first quest"
There was silence for a little bit, before I spoke.
"You want to explain it?"
He sighed.
"This is where Medea's department store was. Medea... She convinced me to go shopping for my death, Turned me against Jason and I nearly killed him. He was my best friend, and I said things I shouldn't have said. And then... She was the one that sent Gaia to my mom's workshop. The one that made me kill her" A tear went down his face.
"Dude, you've visited nearly the whole of America"
He smirks. "Yeah. Been busy, haven't I?"
I kept it at that, because I didn't want to make him burst into tears or burn the car down. We had have enough disasters for now.
"10 minutes" I say, checking the time.
"An hour of ADHD, here I come" Percy mutters.
* * *
I pull into the parking space of an abandoned store. The faded sign reads "F r Sa e"
"This will be fine" I tell the others. I look at them, and they nod. We get out, and Leo's stomach rumbles.
"Um..."
I sigh. But I have to admit, I am hungry. I start walking down the street, and the boys follow me. After 10 minutes (or so it seems because of our ADHD) of walking around, we enter a small café.
"Orders?" A lady asks us a couple minutes after entering. "Um, yeah. Three Vanilla Cokes, 3 burgers, and chips" I request.
"And money?"
I look at Leo and Percy. They suddenly become very interested with there shoes. Oh gods.
Use the mist... A voice whispers to me.Mom? I mind-reply, but the voice is gone. Quickly, I grab a piece of paper from my bag, but make sure no-one can see it.
Percy once told me about one of his quest buddies being able to control the mist. Apparently, It works best when you show someone what they want. I don't know exactly how to use the Mist, but I feel like my mother is giving me the knowledge to use the ability.
The lady wants to see money. So I'll give her it.
I concentrate, imagining the paper, and then the paper shrinking, slowly changing color, until it becomes a $20 note.
I smirk, as the paper ripples, and it turns into some buckaroos.
"Here. Keep the change" I smile, handing her the money. She stares, and then nods. "Right away, miss" And she walks away.
