Everyone looked at me with blank stares like I had asked what one plus one equaled. It wasn't my fault nobody was telling me what was gonna happen to me. Seraphina broke the silence.
"I told you. The Shadow Griffins..? Remember? War... Were you listening to me at all earlier?"
"Oh."
"Also," she added. "If the opportunity ever rises, you'll need to-"
"Be quiet Sera! You've already made your point." Caspian interrupted.
With all this happening, I'd forgotten all about Calix. The sensation from the spark started to creep into my body and warmth surged through me.
"Can I tell anybody about..this?" I asked referring to my newfound abilities and the clan.
"Are you dense? Of course not! Why ask such an idiotic question?" Seraphina scorned me followed by comments being made from the rest of the clan.
I really wanted to tell Calix..
"This isn't important now. Training is. Let's just g-"
"A Shadow Griffin is here!" Someone stage whispered.
"DISPERSE!" Caspian whisper-screamed.
The clan split into every direction possible. Gladiator turned into mist and went into my gemstone ring. I guess that's where he'll stay from now on. By the time I was ready to run, I saw the griffin already.
Too late.
Randomly, my spark sensations grew stronger and I felt hot. Even with having these feelings for weeks now, I still don't know what they mean. Besides that, it hadn't noticed me yet..thank God. He landed and began to phase into its human form. There were sounds of bones cracking and muffled groans filled with pain coming from it. He was hundreds of feet away yet I could still here them. The wings melted into his back and feathers fell to the floor. He stood upright and cautiously looked around.
"Thank god he has clothes on." I prayed.
I turned around and sat at the edge of the lake. Maybe I'd look innocent enough to be left alone. While waiting for something to happen, the stench of burning rubber filled my nose. Slow footsteps were coming toward me. Each step made the hair on my neck stand up and chills ran down my spine. Naturally, I braced myself for an attack. To my dismay, the exact opposite happened.
"Pfeiffer?" A familiar voice spoke.
I turned around and stared shocked at the figure behind me.
A lump formed in my throat and my mouth went dry. My eyes watered along with my entire body freezing. My lip quivered while I stood up.
It was Calix.
Why him?? Of all the damn people in the world it had to be him?
"Oh hey." I said trying to lose my crying face.
Calix immediately knew I was upset and the next thing I knew I was being embraced.
"What's wrong Pfei? Please don't be sad. Whatever it may be."
Just him asking what's wrong made me sob. How could I not? My love was my natural sworn enemy. He rubbed my back while I clutched his and cried.
