"Hm?"
"Calix..who is he?" Seraphina asked a bit more stern.
Why did she need to know so badly? It's none of her business anyway..
"He's a friend of my friends Caspian and Paasch...why?"
"Oh, no reason. I knew someone with the same name, your all good Harper." She finished and proceeded to leave the room.
Harper and I decided to call it an early night. While brushing my teeth, my phone buzzed with another message from Calix. We'd been texting back and forth for over an hour. With topics like movies to college life and even a few would you rather questions being tossed around. This had carried on for the next few days. As much as we wanted to see each other, our schedules never seemed to match up for us to hang out. I wanted to get to know this boy so badly and stare into his eyes once more. Just one more time. Anything. I could tell that he was the same way for me and that spark has to be the ringleader in these feelings.

It had been a while and I've noticed that Harper had begun displaying the same weird behavior as Seraphina and Estella. They all hang out, leave at weird times, and have basically shut me out. My life here has been pretty boring. I figured that since this college is in the middle of nowhere, I shouldn't be too surprised. Calix had been the most exciting thing for me.
It's around 2-ish in the morning and my roommates haven't come back from wherever they are. This was bullshit. Why am I being treated this way. What the hell did I do? I decided to wait for them to come back. When the clock struck 3 exactly, the door slowly opened and they all walked in.
"Hey." I greeted.
They didn't seem as surprised as I thought they would.
"Hey." Harper responded.
"So... Where do you all disappear to every night?" I asked bluntly.
"You've noticed..." Seraphina started.
"No shit. You guys all ignore me, did I do something?"
"No, nothing like that. Do you really wanna know." She questioned.
"Yeah, I do."
They all stood next to each other. Seraphina nodded to the girls and they smirked.
"We're vampires." Seraphina straight up answered.
I stifled a laugh. You had got to be kidding me. Shortly after that i felt my face get hot.
"Yeah the hell right!" I responded slightly angered.
"Guys if you really don't like me I can move out or something..."
"Pfeiffer we're dead serious! No pun intended." Harper exclaimed.
"Prove it then." I said as I crossed my arms.
"Well, these two are still newborns so they don't really have much to show." Seraphina explained. "Let me show you."
Seraphina took a step away from everyone and turned her attention to me. Reaching her hand toward my forehead.
"Think of something."
Immediately I thought of Calix, what else?
"Whatever it is, you emit a strong emotion toward it...love."
Love? Calix? As nice as that sounds I still don't know him as well as I'd want too, stupid spark.
I just stood there with my mouth hanging open. She snickered as she put her hands on my shoulders, sending a chill down my spine.
"You should join us," she somewhat whispered. "I've studied you enough to know you'd serve us well."
"Huh? What do you mean 'studied' and 'serve us well'?"
"The last few weeks I've observed you. Your personality, ambitions, ability..."
"What the hell? What makes you think I'd join you just like that?"
"It wont affect your daily life..ish."
Is it sad that i'm considering this now?
"Come on! We're all in it together!" Harper pleaded.
"....just get it over with." I groaned.
Seraphina flashed a quirky but devilish grin.
"Great! It'll hurt, but only for a minute. Lay over here. Move your hair away from your chest."
As I laid down on the velvet couch, I gave her a confused look.
"No neck bite?"
She blew on her bangs.
"I hate those damn stereotypes. But no; all it is, is an 'X' over your heart. Get it? Cross your heart and hope to die?" She giggled at her own joke.
"Ahaa.."
I closed my eyes and felt 2 crosses over my heart. At first, I felt warm, but then, it was hot. Not your average hot 80 degree weather hot. It was like tossed in a volcano while chewing a ghost pepper hot.
I clutched my chest and felt like I was burning alive. I stroked the X on my chest. Hands trembling, heavy breathing. That's what I was for the next few minutes.
"Tired yet?" Seraphina asked.
"Wh-what?" I managed to say.
Actually, I do feel tired. My pain died down and I collapsed on the couch, deep sleep. One word in my mind
"Welcome."
