"Welcome to Silent Hills Academy!"

This lady was was so pumped up about her job, she could explode right where she stood.

"I'm Bailey! Your new dorm adviser and here to give you a tour!"

I rolled my eyes.

"Ma'am? I already had a tour. Not once, but twice. Also, I have a pamphlet, so don't hand me any of the ones your holding," I informed while pointing at her stack of pamphlets. "Please just give me my room key."

Bailey's expression still hadn't changed.

"Alrighty then! What's your name hun?" She cheerfully asked.

I pointed to the nametag I was forced to wear on my lace T-shirt. Though I'm sure that when I pull it off, it'll ruin it.

"Nice to meet you...um?

I groaned. I was so tired and frustrated from the drive here I just wanted to collapse onto a bed.

"Pfeiffer," I answered. I never thought that it was hard to pronounce.

"Um..." Bailey was still having trouble.

"FY-FUR! Is that more clear?"

"Ah, that's different I guess. Anyway, here is your room key. Your with three girls in dorm 'Willow.'

I'd much prefer a private dorm room. This academy was already creepy enough, but it's one of the few I could afford. I grabbed my suit cases and started walking to my new dorm. While exiting the administration building, I observed the campus.

EW.

I looked at the sky. It was cloudy, grey and mucky out.

All the "dorms" were basically cabins in cul-da-sacs. There was a huge wire fence surrounding the entire campus with a large gate that leads to the school buildings and other places. The campus is surrounded by a thick forest. You could say it was like a prison. Though it's big enough for you to keep horses. It's easy to say there isn't much to do around here. Too bad I don't have a horse.

"Pfeiffer!" A far away voice yelled.

Being too tired to think of who it could be at this point, my body kept trudging on.

"Pfeiffer!" A closer voiced called out.

My name was yelled more clearly. I tried to rub the sleep out of my eyes and squinted. Two people were clearly waving my way. As I walked closer, I saw two of my best friends; Paasch and Cyprian.

Finally, something good is happening.

I'd forgotten that they were here. They're my best guy friends ever. As kids, we made this weird group together because we all have unusual names. I jogged to them and was met with a group hug.

"Hey Pfeiffer!" Paasch greeted.

"Hey, did you get taller?" I questioned.

"Maybe," he smiled.

He kept rearranging his wavy blonde hair that put mine to shame.

"Rocking the brown hair again?" I asked Cyprian.

He nodded in response while scratching his neck.

"How was your summer?" Cyprian asked.

"Stupid..." I groaned.

They both looked at each other.

"Why?" They asked in unison.

"I had to work at my grandparents' pawn shop all summer. I smelled like old people and had to dust every day."

"That sucks.. Did you at least go to the beach?"

"Does it look like I went to the beach?" I questioned holding my arms out.

"Your lack of tan says 'no'."

"Thank you." I retorted.

I picked up my bags and we started walking around the campus. People were smiling and going into their dorms. How could they be happy here? It's cloudy and damp out. Cyprian led us to their dorm. Somehow he and Paasch got a dorm with just them and one other guy. When we got to the door, Cyprian said I could meet their roommate. I agreed to even though I would've liked to unpack my stuff now. He unlocked the door and poked his head in.

"Hey Calix! I want you to meet someone." Paasch called.

After a minute or two, a guy stepped out from the dorm and onto the front stoop. His piercing blue eyes seemed to immediately lock with mine. His hair was groomed perfectly into a quiff. Perfect jawline, perfect lips..just perfect...

"Calix, this is Pfeiffer." Cyprian introduced putting his hands on my shoulders. "Known her since the second grade."

Calix stepped off the stairs and walked up to me. This boy towered over me. If I had to guess, he was around 5'10...

"Hey." his husky voice spoke.

"Hi." I answered.

His stare sent shivers down my spine. How could someone's eyes be such a color?

His voice was husky but smooth. It gave me chills that no winter day in February could achieve. I don't believe in love at first sight but there was something. Something wouldn't let me look away. Suddenly, what looked like a firecracker went off in the space between us, causing me to yelp and fall on my butt. People nearby looked at me like I had two heads. Cyprian quickly pulled me up to my feet.

"What was that!?" He questioned.

"I couldn't tell you." Calix responded while Passch helped him up.

After that, an awkward silence occupied the space where the firecracker-like explosion went off.

"Um, Pfeiffer we'll walk you to your dorm if you'd like now." Cyprian asked breaking the silence.

"I can do it!" Calix's yelled randomly. "I mean, I will...if you want."

For some reason now, I felt the need to always be near him. It was almost magnetic. So obviously I'd say yes.

"No we got it, didn't you say you were meeting up with your frat?" Paasch reminded.

"I can wait." I blurted out.

This resulted in a smirk emerging from Calix. Before I could go to him, Cyprian picked up my bags and clasped his hand on my shoulder.

"Cmon Pfei, you have to get settled in eventually."

I sadly retreated away from Calix and began walking away with Cyprian and Paasch.

"Goodbye Calix.." I called out over my shoulder.

He waved his hand and returned to his dorm. Something told me to just turn back and be with him. With these new emotions, how could I focus on anything now? The only thing keeping me from going back was sleep, and I'm not complaining...yet.
