Part Thirty Four

I wake up (again) to find I can't get up. This time for two reasons

1: I'm too lazy and

2: Travis still hasn't let me go

"Ughhh! He's gonna sqish me to death I swear -"

"You swear what?" Laurence says

"L- Laurence! " I say shocked

"Sorry just wanted to surprise you" He answered

"Well you clearly accomplished that goal... And almost giving me a heart attack" I say under my breath

"Why are you up so early, anyways?" I ask

"What? Do I have to sleep in too?" he teases

I then spring out of bed and Laurence notices. He starts running as we chase each other around the room.

"Come back here!" I say out of breath

"You'll have to catch me!" he teases

I continue running but trip over a book Laurence knocked over. He then sees and catches me.

"T- Thank you" I say blushing

"Wouldn't want you to get hurt, would I?" he says

"Ummm... Maybe we should check on Garroth..." I say trying to change the subject

"Well what are you waiting for?" he asks

"Laurence don't play dumb! Again there's a chance your not" I tease

"I'll let you go if you don't insult me for the rest of this trip" he says

"I'll try" I say

We then reach Garroth's room.

"Shoot, the door's locked" I say

"Sorry but Garroth has the only key" Laurence says

"Wait I thought each person was given a k-"

"Anyways... Let's leave him something" he says trying to change the subject

"Ok. Maybe we should leave some medicine if he's I'll or a little gift" I suggest

"Let's buy him something later" Laurence says heading back

"Ok..." I say

We head back to our room. Once we arrive there's pure silence.

"If you don't mind me asking, why were so eager to leave quickly?" I ask

"Just this choice he made" Laurence says looking away

"Do you trust me?" I ask

"Of course I do" he says

"Then can you tell me?" I ask

"Fine -but it's a long story" he warns me

"Go on" I say

Laurence's POV
I warned her...Anyway here goes...

"Garroth and I went on a mission to try to close a neither portal but while trying we found out we have immortality. The decision we had to make was to leave this life and start a new one or hide it. I had chosen a normal life over being a guard but Garroth didn't want to leave his village unprepared from unknown forces so decided to hide it. That was years ago but I guesse Garroth just felt that was his calling. He's recently been doing things he used to do when he was a Knight. I guesse he just can't let it go..."

Y/n was silent. I just kept looking through some books.

It was silent and the next thing I see is y/n looking over at the book.

"Awww!" she says

I quickly shut the book and put it away.

"You haven't named your puppy yet" I say trying to change the subject

"Oh, I think I like the name Phoenix" Y/n says

Your POV
"That's a nice name" Travis says

"Your awake?!" I say in shock

Why do they sneak up on me? I guess I should expect it from now on...

"Yeah I am. I got dressed while you and Laurence went to check on Garroth, I overheard the story too" Travis said

Longish silence

We packed some stuff and got ready to head for the beach.

What's wrong with Garroth? And what's with their past? So many questions!!!!
