Link fell to his knees. He was finding it hard to breathe and he was constantly panting. He lay back against a nearby rock and gazed up at the floating island. It was almost a speck now and was steadily approaching the clouds.
“May you thrive my comrades.” He breathed. “I pray for your happiness with all my heart… but my body is heavy. It feels as though I’m stuck to the ground… I can’t move.” Link was finding it harder to breathe and his vision was starting to blur. “Curses!” He smiled. “Loftwing… I’m sorry I couldn’t keep my promise… but crimson bird, I hope that you can somehow grant me my final wish.” There was a strange sensation in his stomach and he let out a sigh. “Ah… it doesn’t hurt anymore. My spirit will always be with you…” Link looked up at the island as it finally burst through the clouds. He closed his eyes and smiled.
