Chapter 7:
Jade shivered as she clung to the plain white quilt in her bed. Well, bed would be too luxurious of a word. This time it was a box that had been found to be in the way, inside the large building. The last bed she had slept on before the travels had been thrown away for an easier trip. Of course her bed did not matter, especially to the master. The quilt in which she wore was torn and stained in so many places that it could barely be considered white anymore.
She didn’t remember it as being as cold before. She shivered, trying with every ounce of her body to warm herself. Even frantically rubbing her hands against her arms was no use. She had grown way too accustom to the warmth of Drake’s body against her as she slept. The thought of his warm body tormented her. She hadn’t seen Drake in over a week and the master had put guards outside the trailer to make sure of it. Autumn was still permitted in but not as often as she would have liked.
Jade couldn’t stand it anymore and she desperately needed to get out and find Drake. She missed the warmth of his skin and the touch of his lips. It was a craving beyond any that she’d ever known. Perhaps this was what the pregnant women Jade had run across had felt. She knew that this wasn’t about food, but the taste of his cinnamon lips might as well been. It seemed to satisfy her hunger more than anything she could divulge would.
Silently she tiptoed towards the front of her tent. She claimed it to be hers, although it might as well be hers with the exception of before Showtime, everyone came there to change. She wore raggedy clothes again as the beautiful dress she was wearing when departing from the cabin had been stripped from her shortly after she reached the trailer. She shuddered at the thought of the master stripping her down to nothing but skin in an outrageous mood. She thought for sure she would be raped and even saw the erection in his pants at the sight of her. Instead she survived a light beating of a whip across her legs to prevent her from walking anywhere right away. Legs could also be covered in pantyhose as the master very well knew. She had heard the murmur of him speaking about needing to see his mistress immediately before he had stormed out that night.
The guards were still only inches from the exit and both were highly conversing about the topics of the circus. It was the first time they had ever seen a circus in England. That did not mean it was the first, but the popularity of the event was increasing. The two men had been graciously given by the king to help protect the event of the circus. They wore chainmail and steel helms cut on the face allowing the view of their black untrimmed beards. Jade gulped as she backed away a few steps before she heard her name mentioned.
“Who is this that we’re guarding anyway?” A curious hoarse voice asked.
“I believe she is the hula dancer.” A slithery voice replied with lust.
“That is most appetizing. I am eager to see how she moves with it.” The hoarse voice chuckled.
She ran back to her bed in disgust as tears readily streaked down her face. It wasn’t fair that she was entrapped in a cage. Her life had never been fair but at least before she could come and go as she pleased. Indeed she was a full slave now. She never used to get in trouble and so her master left her alone to come and go as she pleased. She had failed him and now she was to be treated accordingly.
She heard more murmurs behind her until the sound of the tent opening snapped her up to turn around and see Autumn dashing inside. Indeed it was her day to come visit, the night before their act. They would practice together. Jade’s mind was far from any sort of practicing.
