The view in front of me was terrifying. Like a murder scene. I saw Alex on the ground holding a girl's head in her lap and shouting for her to get up. My mum made me take a few CPR classes, but that wouldn't help in this case. I called 911 and tried to calm Alex but that just made her even more frightened.

A few minutes later the paramedics arrived. They lifted the girl onto the gurney and left. Alex turned around and to my surprise, cried into my chest. I wrapped my arms around her. I don't know why this feels right but it does. I just wanted to tell her that everything was going to be okay, but I didn't know that for sure. She let go. I wanted to pull her back. I really like her because she's not like other girls I've met. She doesn't care about what others think of her. She's the most beautiful girl I've ever seen.

I couldn't watch them carry my friend off so I turned around and buried my head into the first thing I saw which happened to be Harry's chest. He smelt of cologne and smoke. Oddly enough, it smelled really good. I finally let go and decided to follow them. Then I was reminded I don't have a car. I had one in the works, but Gabe and I needed rent. Priorities.

"Hey can you take me to the hospital please?" He just nodded and we started walking out to his car.

He has a really nice car. It's a black Range Rover and it smells like his shirt did earlier. We got in and drove off to the hospital in silence. I decided to speak up.

"Thank you," is all I said.

"No problem." It was kind of weird but kind of cute how he furrowed his eyebrows while driving.

We arrived at the E.R. and ran inside and sat in the waiting room while they were checking her out. Anyone who knows me knows I'm impatient as hell. Finally after what seemed like hours, they lead us her room.

As we walked in she had a bunch of cords hooked up to her and you could hear a bunch of beeping sounds from the machines. She was still asleep. A few moments pass and the door opens.

"Alex how are you." Katy is a doctor I know from volunteering with Penelope.

"I could be better. Do you have any updates?"

"Actually yes. She is reacting really great from the medications, but she has to stay here a few days so we can monitor her." She moves her red hair out of her blue eyes.

"Okay, thanks Katy." Harry was just randomly standing behind me.
"Hey wanna go see Penelope while we wait for Mac to wake up?"

"Who's Penelope?" I forgot he doesn't know her.
"You'll see." We headed towards the elevators and went to the sixth floor.

As soon as we got out, I walked down the hall and walked up to her door. I gently knocked on the door not knowing if she was asleep or not. Her mom, Lucy opened the door and gave me a huge hug.

"Alex! I've missed you very much! Come in."

"I've missed you too. This is my friend Harry, he really wants to meet penny."

I walked in after Alex and greeted the thin, blonde lady. I turned and saw the palest, thinnest little girl I've ever seen in my life.

"Ally!" The little girl with tubes and wires attached to her lit up the room.

"Hey Penny! This is my friend Harry. Don't worry, he doesn't bite," she whispered the last part. I just waved and smiled. The little girl smiled and waved back. Then Alex handed her something that made the girl smile.

After we talked for a bit, we decided to check up on Mackenzie again. We walked into the elevators.

"Hey if you don't mind my asking what was that you gave her at the end?"
"Oh. We are making a collection of different bottle caps. Nerdy right?"

"No. Not at all. It's actually kind of cool."

We arrived to Mackenzie's room and she wasn't there. Her bed was empty. The sheets all tangled. She was gone.
