When we arrived home, we carried our boxes and bags into the house. Can't believe in one week I'll be a junior in high school.

We live in a small house but is big enough. It's a two story house with a basement that is where Timmy's room is and mine is on the last floor.

"Hey, look the school schedule came!" Dad yelled. "Also the supply list."

"Awesome!" Timmy said running off to grab his list. "Let's see what senior classes I'm in."

"I can't believe you two are so old now." Dad said hugging us.

"Dad chill." Timmy said.

"Well Dad shouldn't chill knowing you'll be in this house for the next 30 years." I joked. Timmy laughed mockingly at me.

"Okay you two." Dad said getting between us. "Em, why don't you call David? You gave him our number right?"

"Yeah, I'll go call him now." I ran straight to my room and picked up the phone from my nightstand and dialled David's number.

"Hello?" I heard David say.

"Hey." I said. "It's Emily."

"Oh. I missed you. So how's it going."

"good, school starts next week."

"Wow." He said. "I start in 2 days."

"Well sucks to be you." We laughed.

"So, Em. My dad and I where wondering if we can come up sometime."

"Sounds good. How about that long weekend in October?"

"Sounds great."

I heard my dad call down for help. "well I gotta go. Love you."

"Love you too. Bye." And then we both hung up.

I ran down to my dad. "What dad?"

"I need some help unpacking."

"Okay." I started helping him. "Hey can I ask you something?"

"Sure darling."

"Can David come over during that long weekend in October?"

"Well, I don't see why not."

"Thanks Dad."

School started shortly after. I had amazing teachers but I could never get David off my mind. I mean I love him. It may be a cheesy teen romance but to me it's real. All I do is write David's name on all my school supplies now.

"Are you going to the homecoming dance, Emily?" My best friend, Amanda said at our lockers.

"I don't know. I don't have a date."

"We always just go to homecoming together." She remarked.

"I know, but, it will be weird not being with David."

"You talk about him all the time. Why?"

That's when I pulled a picture out of my locker and showed her.

"Yup, that explains it." She said eyeing the picture.

"He's coming over to visit in a few weeks but it's only for a weekend."

"Just call him." She suggested.

"I can't, he's in school."

"Is there a time difference?"

"No."

"Then call him after school."

I sighed. "I can't. He has lifeguarding for a few more weeks after school."

"I don't know what to tell you."

"What about I'll see him soon enough."

"That would've been good." She nodded.

"Oh really?" I said sarcastically.

"Look, Em. You must be patient. He will be here before you know it." She assured me.

"Yeah, you're right."

"Yeah, and I can't wait to meet him."

When I came home, Timmy and Jon where in the kitchen working on some poster. I walked closer to get a better look and saw pieces of paper from magazines and photos of girls in bikinis.

"This one should be the center." Jon told Timmy.

"Yeah, god that's a sexy shot."

"Perverts." I said under my breath and walked to my room. Still hearing them talk.

I stayed in my room all afternoon because without David, I have nothing.

Knock knock

Oh great. "Go away." I called out.

"Emily..." I heard my Dad say as he walked in. "You seem to be not doing well in school."

I looked up. "How do you know?"

"Got your report card." He said holding it out to me. The five week mark report card. Oh god.

I opened it to reveal the low grades: D, D, D, C, D, C, C. I closed it up handing it back to him. "I'll try to do better." I rubbed my eyes.

"I hope you do." He sat down on my bed. "Is this because of David?"

"Dad!" I yelled covering my face with my pillow.

"Okay. Forget I asked."

"It kind of is." I looked at him with tears in my eyes. "I miss him."

My Dad pulled me into a hug and stroked my hair. "It's okay. He may have gotten in to trouble but he's a good kid. He was great."

I kept crying. "I love him."

"I can see that."

I kept crying into his shoulder as we just sat there as he was trying to calm me down.
