A bit passed with just the two of us talking, laughing and watching some TV and it was really nice...just to have some time to ourselves. Then, Sam and Brit came walking in and I smiled at both of them as Sam had a bag of groceries and set them on the table in front of me and Dean.

"Ah thanks" Dean said as he reached for it.

"Yep" Sam replied. Dean turned the TV off.

"Where's Bobby? He take off?" Brit asked.

"Yea...hey, guys how you doing?" I asked.

"Fine" they both replied with a shrug.

"Well, you still, you know..." Dean started.

"Yeah, no, we know what you mean" Brit said.

"We're still seeing crap that's not real. But, yeah, we're fine. I mean, we can tell the difference" Sam added.

"Think it's getting better?" I asked.

"Honestly? I don't know. I just know we're managing it..." Sam said, looking down at Brit as she looked up at him and she nodded. "So don't worry" he finished.

Dean and I exchanged a look, but then he pulled out a small, square container of cake and looked inside the bag. "Where's the pie?"

"I got cake. It's close enough, right?"

Dean looked at me with a disbelief look on his face and I couldn't help but laugh a little as I just took the cake from him and got up to get a fork. It'll have to do....

Dean refused to eat the cake so I didn't fight with him. His leg was starting to make him cranky so I let it go. I noticed he was starting to doze off and as he was, I couldn't help but also notice Sam was intensely reading this newspaper ever since him and Brit got back. Then, they even started passing notes to each other, trying to be discreet about it, so I wouldn't be able to hear whatever it was that they were planning.

I got up carefully, trying very hard not to wake Dean and I headed into the bathroom. Then, I snuck out through the window and around to the front door and waited for a few minutes until the door started to open, seeing Sam and Brit standing there with their backpacks on their shoulders.

"And where do you two think you're going?" I cocked an eyebrow as I put my hands on my hips.

They were caught off guard...but they probably should've seen it coming.

"Mel, please just let us explain..." Sam started.

I eyed him for a moment. "Okay" I nodded and gestured for them to follow me away from the cabin.

I felt them both exchange a look of shock because they didn't think I would give in so easily...but I was trying something new.

We walked over to the truck and the Impala and I spun to face them. "Okay...talk"

"Sam thinks there's a case" Brit said, holding out a newspaper to me.

"A case...?" I inquired, taking it.

"Yea...a kitsune. Dean, dad and I hunted one when I was a kid...you ever hear of it?" he asked, timidly and I could tell he was trying not to push his limits with me right now.

"Yea, I have...it looks like regular people like you and me and to kill it you stab it in the heart...never actually seen one though...that's a pretty specific assumption to get just from reading a headline, Sammy"

"Yea, well I have my reasons...this case is just something I needed to do. It's important..."

"I knew he would be going either way to check this out so I wasn't just going to let him go alone, even if it is unfinished business for him, Mel" Brit said to me in her pleading tone, just wanting to let me let them go.
