Blake's POV:
(Flashback)

You know Dad, that Blake's really good at cooking?" Lucy said.

"Well, no, I did not. Why?" He replied.

"I-I was just wondering if we could let him work part time at the Bakery. Like he would help Eve and I prepare orders and stuff," Lucy said as she stuffed more macaroni into her mouth.

"I don't see why not. If he's up to it, then sure. However, I would like to talk to him first about the rules set around working at Sweet Tooth," her Dad replied, looking over at me.

I was caught mid-chew. " Um, well, I wouldn't mind."

Lucy's Dad nodded slightly and went back to eating. I looked over at Lucy. She gave me a weak smile of encouragement. It had been her idea to let me work with her and Eve at their family bakery. I was excited to be spending more time with her after school.

When dinner ended, Lucy's Dad, Robert, pulled me into the living room. The girls had offered to clear the table while he talked to me. I gulped. I was beyond nervous about what he was going to talk about.

Robert looked me straight in the eye before saying, "I've seen how much Lucy cares about and appreciates you. She hasn't had a decent friends since middle school. Thank you for sticking up for her. She told me about what happened with this 'Jacob' kid."

My face flushed slightly. I didn't realize that Lucy had told her father about that incident. "It was nothing, really."

He gave me a serious look. "She's never had much luck with people since her mother died. The only reason I'm letting you work with her is because she needs someone to be there for her. She's more vulnerable than she realizes, especially with years and years of bullying built up inside her. Treat her well, or you won't see the light of day ever again."

I swallowed hard. This guy was making a death threat? He must be serious. Even if he wasn't threatening me, I would still protect Lucy with my life.

I nodded. "Yes sir. I understand. She will be kept in good hands."

"Good," he replied, relaxing his posture a bit at the reassurance I gave him. "Now go help her with homework or something."

I nodded again and got off the couch to search for Lucy. Looks like I was going to be her co-worker for a while now.

Lucy's POV:
(Present time)

"And these are the ovens that we use to bake the food. Any questions?" I asked.

It was a Saturday and the first day Blake would be working along side Eve and I at Sweet Tooth. I was beyond excited.

Blake looked slightly overwhelmed. I giggled slightly and wrapped my arms around his waist to give him a reassuring hug. "Don't worry, it's easy once you get the hang of it."

Blake looked down at me and smiled. His brown eyes met mine. We held each other's gaze for a moment longer than normal.

"I just noticed that your eyes look like big green buttons," Blake whispered, staring into my eyes.

I gulped and blinked rapidly as I pulled my gaze away from him. "Uh we should get started. Shift starts in ten minutes," I mumbled. Blake nodded and followed me to where he was suppose to be "stationed" at.

"Alright, do understand what you need to do? Any questions? I'll be behind the register if you need me," I said.

Blake laughed at my flustered behavior. To be honest, I was stressing more about his first day of work here than he was. "Don't worry, Button. Calm down, I'll be fine."

"I just want my best friend to have a good first day. I-I've haven't really had a best friend to worry over in a while...Now let's go start!"
-----
Blake had been a big help around the shop. He had made orders, and took over the register for a while I went to deliver some orders. I gave him a big hug when our shifts were over.

I couldn't believe I hugged him. What was this boy doing to me?

He had laughed when I turned deep red at my actions. "Your so cute, Button."

I rolled my eyes and grabbed my backpack I had brought to finish my weekend homework. I sat down in a booth and started working on Math. Blake ended up joining me a few minutes later. However, he decided to distract me from completing it.

By being annoying.

"Blake stop making weird noises! It's distracting!"

"But homework is so boring, why do it anyway?"

"Because I feel like passing this class. What about you?"

Blake sighed and got out of the booth. I looked over at him. He gave me a small smile and disappeared into the back of the shop. I rolled my eyes and began to work on homework again. I heard a crash. I jerked myself out of the booth and ran into the back of the shop.

Blake was covered from head to toe in flour. He must have accidentally backed into the shelf that held it and it fell on him. I stared wide-eyed at the pale figure in front of me, trying to hold in a laugh starting to bubble up inside me.

I slowly reached into my back pocket and grabbed my phone. I slowly opened the camera and snapped a quick picture as Blake stood like a deer caught in headlights. I put my phone back in my pocket and stared back at Blake as the silence grew thicker.

Finally, I couldn't take it anymore and I let a small snort escape me. Blake made a face of mock hurt.

"Well, are you just going to stand there and laugh at me or are you going to come help me?" He asked.

I smirked. "I like this. You can clean up by yourself."

Blake rolled his eyes and smirked. "You want to try me? You have three seconds to get over here and help me before I'm forced to do something you might not like, Button."

Now, at this point, I had completely forgotten Blake was the quarterback on our high school foot ball team. So I made the wrong decision and started to walk away.

Again, wrong decision.

Blake tackled me and I shrieked as flour coated me in a thick layer. He pinned me to the floor grinning evilly as I gasped for air and failed at spitting flour out of my mouth, wriggling in his grasp. I continued to cough as Blake mercilessly poured more flour on me. Damn boy was wasting ingredients!

"That's what you get for not helping me clean this mess up!" Blake crowed. I spit more flour out of my mouth before replying with a groan. Blake chuckled as he shifted his weight so he could now comfortably pin me to the floor.

"Are you going to let me go? The ground isn't as comfortable as it looks."

Blake smirked, "No, I like this power."

He leaned down and positioned his face only a few centimeters from my own. I felt heat creep up my neck as I stared into Blake's deep brown eyes. His eyes searched mine, a longing look was held within his gaze. He looked away before I could detect anything else.

He started to learn in more, slowly shutting his eyes as he continued to press me against the floor. I gulped, swallowing flour in the process. His lips barely brushed against my cheek before there was a loud thud.

Eve was standing in the doorway.

Heyyyyyy yo! Sorry this is kinda a filler chapter but what do you think of Blake working at Sweet Tooth now? I'm excited ;)

By the way, never look up Sweet Tooth on Google. If you've never seen mortal combat and are afraid of clowns. Just don't, Kay? It scared me a bit when I was looking for a bakery logo.

Anyway, hope you enjoyed the chapter. Make sure you rate, comment, and vote! Thanks and until next time!
