The darkness was inevitable.

What time is it? What day is it? Where am I?
You felt nothing.
Am I in a dream? What's going on?
You tried to move, and felt a hand touch yours.
Who's there? Hello? Who are you?
You strained to break the silence, and heard few words coming from an authority figure.
"Liver cancer... Serious... Too late... Impossible... I'm sorry."
You laughed suddenly in your mind.
So this damn cancer finally got to me. I figured it would come eventually.
Suddenly, it hit you... It hit you who was holding your hand. You felt tears land on your palm.
Adrien.
You opened your eyes. Hospital light flooded into your vision. You glanced to your right, noticing the bags of fluids being drained into your arm.
Your body ached. Everything ached. Heart.. Mind.. And soul.
You turned your attention to your husband.
"Adrien", you croaked.
He jolted, and looked into your eyes. Tears had consumed his green eyes, making them blurry.
"Y-y/n... How... Why...", he choked, resting his forehead on your loose hand.
I can't move. Why can't I move?
"I've had this cancer almost all my life. I'm sorry I didn't tell you.. I didn't want it to stop me... Stop us", you tried to explain.
"Y/n... It's alright. It's alright, okay? We'll get through this. We'll... We'll have the children we always wanted", Adrien managed through sobs.
Oh Adrien...
You smiled. "Of course, darling. I love you."
Adrien smiled back at you, the tears beginning to slow their roll down his perfect face.
"Alright... I love you, my angel", he said, kissing your cheek. "We'll get through this together.. I promise. I'll be here for you. I-."
Silence.
Darkness.
Your eyes shut closed.
But I won't be here for you.
The screams and pleads of Adrien's cries were drowned out by the silence.
Pure silence.
You almost felt like humming a tune; knowing that this darkness was now a part of you.
Instead, tears rolled down your face as you felt images of your past fly by in your mind.
High school. I met Adrien at y/c club sophomore year.
He asked me out senior year.
College. He went to the same college as me just so we could be together.
I went into my profession, and Adrien continued modeling..
So many happy times.
He proposed to me at the park.
We got married 2 months after.

And we planned to have our first child soon.
The images stopped.
You suddenly couldn't sense anything.
Not even your own darkness.
