x HIRA x
Hearing my alarm go off, I rolled over and stopped it, looking at the time on my phone. 4:37am.
Had I really not heard it for 7 minutes?
I yawned and stretched my legs in my bed, laying limp and staring at the dark ceiling for a few minutes blankly before finally rolling out of it, not leaving any time for Shaytaan to tell me to go back to sleep.
I washed my face and changed my clothes before making wudu and preparing to pray Fajr.
Just as I was about to take takbir, the door opened and I jumped, turning around and seeing that Hassan had run into my room.
"Ha!" He pointed just finger at me, bending his knees as he laughed. "I finished before you, now I can go back to sleep!"
That was all he said before running back out of my room without giving me any time to say anything.
"Hassan, shut up! I'm already in bed!" Waleed screamed, sounding extremely annoyed.
My shock at Hassan's entrance quickly dispersed and I smiled, shaking my head as I walked to my door and shut it, preparing to pray once again.
"Alhamdulillah, I'm in a family where our fights are about who prays first." I muttered to myself with a scoff before calming down and putting myself in a state of khushoo' and then beginning the first two rakah's.
After finishing Fajr, I raised my hands for Dua, praying that my salah was accepted, praying for the health and well-being of all my family, for the safety and protection of our oppressed brothers and sisters, for the success of my schooling, for a lengthy and healthy lifespan of my parents, for a bright future for Hassan, for the best of Waleed in his future years, for a blessed married life between Hawwa and Yaseen, for the wars and rockets in all the Muslim nations to come to an end, for all oppressions and injustices in the whole world to finish, for poverty and starvation in second or third world countries to be taken care of, for all my family and friends to have lifestyles that will allow us access to Jannah, for our deaths to be with ease and while we are prepared for death, and lastly I prayed that Allah swt sends me goodness for I have been struggling for the past week with stress, drama and sadness. "Rabbi inni limaa anzalta ilayya min khayrin faqeer." (My lord I am in absolute need of the good you send me.) "Ya Rabb, hear my Dua's and grant my prayers that are for the better of me and my family, indeed you know best. Ameen. Ameen. Ameen." I whispered softly.
I released a breath and sat on my prayer mat, not yet wanting to sleep and instead, I took my mushaf, leaning against my bed and reciting until I saw sunlight come through the window, alhamdulillah.
Later in the day...
"Lunch is ready, Hira!" My mum yelled from downstairs and I quickly finished up my homework before going down the stairs while asking my mum what she cooked for lunch, except when I turned the corner of the stairs, she wasn't in the kitchen. And why was the table empty?
"Mama!? Baba!?" I called, and just as I was wondering if I had heard the imaginary voice of my mum, I heard splashing outside.
Thinking that Waleed may have been practicing, I walked out only to see my dad, mum and Waleed sitting around the outdoor table set, eating burgers, Hassan trying his best to swim to the edge of the pool.
