Assalamu Alaykum. Peace be upon you.
The journey that each of us embark on when looking for love is as unique as the prints at the tips of our fingers. The quest for love, although in hindsight may seem to be a beautiful thing, in reality can be a...
I stopped the ringing of my alarm and looked at my phone screen through half closed eyes. 5:47am.
I literally hadn't heard it for a whole seven minutes. Wow.
I laid back down and stared at the ceiling before Amir popped into my mind and my eyes opened wide, despite my sleepy state. I quickly sat up in my bed and grabbed my phone, pressing Amir's contact name and taking the phone to my ear, my heart beating nervously for reasons unknown to me. It rang until it went to voicemail but there was no answer. Although my excitement had dropped, I didn't give up and called him a second and a third time. In the end, when he didn't answer on the forth I sent him a message.
I tried. Tomorrow, in'shaAllah. :)
I put my phone down and got up to wash my face, preparing to pray Fajr when I realised after using the toilet that I had gotten my period. I groaned before taking care of my business and going back to bed to sleep, and to do that took me a mere five minutes.

"What do you guys want to do tomorrow?" My dad asked as I bit into my toast. Tomorrow was Sunday and every Sunday, as long as my mum wasn't called into her medical clinic, we would do something as a family. Sometimes Waleed wasn't able to come as he had quite a few clients that had personal training sessions on Sunday's, but it was still a good bonding day.
"Why don't we just have a barbecue at home?" My mum suggested, looking at Hassan, Waleed and I before turning to my dad. "The weather's going to be pretty warm so we can call your siblings and have dinner altogether."
My dad nodded. "Suits me. Kids?"
I nodded with a smile. "Yeah, that'd be awesome." I said.
"Does that mean Malik and Hamza are coming!?" Hassan cheered, asking about my dads nephews who were roughly the same age as him.
"Yes, buddy. If they're available, they'll be coming." My dad said with a smile and he cheered happily.
"I don't mind. I'll have clients until about 6pm though." Waleed said and my dad nodded. "I'll call them all then." He said and as he got prepared to leave the table after Hassan made after meal Du'a.

"Baba?" I said, stopping him.
"Yes?"
"Can I go shopping with Sophia today? She said she needs to buy her mum a Mother's Day gift or something."
He nodded, giving me permission. "Mariam, if you want, make a list of what you need. Hira, you take our car and do the shopping for tomorrow after you drop Sophia back home."
My mum nodded along with me in agreement.
"I'll call Sophia." I said as I took my plate to the sink and walked up the stairs to my room.
"Hizza!" She answered. "Good afternoon."
I chuckled. "Thanks, Soph. Just wondering what time you wanted to go out. I'm free right now if you are."
"Oh, really? If you're free then we can go right now. It'll be good actually cause I'm going out to dinner with friends later." She said to me and we agreed that I would get ready and leave to pick her up.
