§ Sae Ron §

I literally have to drag myself out of bed when the doorbell goes off. The person on the other side of the door definitely doesn't want the poor me to enjoy some sleep.

But my eyes bulge when I find Soeun unnie standing at my doorstep, wearing a mild frown. "Is it just me or someone decided not to return home last night?" The look she's giving me right now clearly tells me that I'm going to have anything but a peaceful night. She's going to nag me until I break every single detail to her.

It's days like these when I wish I was not so close with the people next door.

Pushing past me, she storms off into my bedroom. Bet she needs no invitation to come in.

I follow her reluctantly and slump down on my bed as she sits cross-legged, right across from me. "Are you going to tell me, Sae Ron, or do I have to ask?"

"Well, for starters, I did not stay out to have fun last night. You can rest assured about that, unnie. I was caught up in work and fell asleep on my desk. That's all."

Her eyes narrow in suspicion and I know, even before she speaks, that I've been caught. "Why do I feel like you're leaving something out? But more than that, how can it make sense for you to have so much work on your first day? That's too much for a newbie," she states matter-of-factly.

"Unnie, actually, I didn't tell you everything the other day," I prepare myself to spill the beans. "I'm not really working in the post I had interviewed for."

"Then what is your job?"

I bite my lip. She's a motherly figure to me and perhaps, that's the reason why I care about what she thinks of my job. I mouth the words before I can talk myself out of it. "For a month, I'm going to be the CEO's assistant. After that, I'll continue the job I was supposed to do."

Her hand flies over her mouth for a split second. "You mean you're currently working as Jeon Jungkook's assistant?"

I nod my head.

"And you're only telling me now?!"

I nod my head again.

She facepalms in disbelief and I can't help chortling at her childish behavior. Is unnie really six years older than me or six years younger?

"Then you were in the office alone with Jungkook last night?! Don't tell me you were...." She shoots me an "I'll not spare you endless embarrassment if this turns out true" look.

And I nod my head yet again.

Her pretty little eyes grow as big as saucers in record time and I mentally brace myself for an ear-splitting screech.

And boy does it come.

"Mwooo...?!" Her voice booms around my small room and I sigh. So much for having a sound sleep.

"Ne, and there's nothing more to it. So, please unnie, don't torture me anymore. I can't keep my eyes open any longer," I plead and she rolls her eyes.

Typical.

"You spent the night with Jeon Jungkook and you expect me not to be curious at all?! You're really dumb, Sae Ron-ah."

"Why are you making it sound like I slept with him? It was just for work. We didn't even move an inch from our desks the whole night!"

"But still.....it's Jungkook. You must be checking him out all the time, right?" She says dreamily. "Wah, so lucky."
