"I feel kind of wrong about this, they're just high schoolers..." I said with a sigh as Frea and I walked around the field.
"So were we when we started training." Frea said, though she didn't sound like she was disagreeing with me, her eyes wearily watching the others train. "And Lavender is only eleven..."
"We were all chosen for our lineage though. They needed new scouts so they went to the children of the current ones. These are the average pack members children, their blood doesn't run as strong, they may get hurt, because they have no chance..."
"But look at Dylan, average blood- same as Leon, Hunter and Heather have an Alpha in their distant family, but when was that ever enough before? We're changing the normal, same with Danny being our Alpha instead of Owen. We should give this a shot."
"And what happens when Cheyenne is sixteen and wants to start training?" I said quietly, hoping she wouldn't take offense, or think I mean harm.
"I'll let her make her own decision, women in packs need to stand up for themselves-"
"This isn't about doing dishes and bearing children Frea; this is about our children having to worry the way we do. Fight the way we do. Get hurt the way we do." I sighed.
"They can't even try out for scouts until they change."
"Do you think the rogues care about that when they have the motives they do? Maybe to them a trained kid is a bigger target. Maybe instead of helping them we're lining them up for the-"
"Luna- with all due respect- you need to chill. We may be in a time of peace before our little ones are even of age. And these young ones, they'll be strong, they'll learn to be a pack, and maybe we can expand our area of protection. For now the others get to run free, but what if attacks become an all over thing? Wouldn't you want the younger ones to know what they're doing?"
"Are you trying to convince me, or yourself-?"
"Both of us. I trust Owen's decisions. Like he trusts yours. Or you trust Danny's. Besides, I'm betting they attack before we give birth... And there's no way they're taking us down. Three territorial pissed off mommas protecting their babies... I'd be scared if I were them." She said, nudging me when we both started laughing. "Speaking of... You think those two will..." She trailed off, her eyes leaving the line of view towards Heather and Alice, who were facing off.
"You know, I was thinking about that... Alice and Sam have been together just as long as you and Owen-"
"Yeah, and Heather and Leon fuck like-"
"Frea!"
"It's true! How he hasn't gotten her pregnant yet is beyond me." She laughed, her eyes now on Leon. "Besides, the guy is like- a Viking descendant- probably has genes like a-"
"It'll happen when it happens." I said quickly as I threw my hands up, not wanting her to finish her thought.
"Yeah, and then we'll get pregnant again." She groaned. "And so far Cheyenne is enough for me."
"I'm the one carrying multiples remember?"
"By the way, when's your ultra sound again?"
"This Monday. They said they may not be able to tell the sexes, but that it wouldn't hurt to get a peek at them, since we're dealing with multiples- and because of you know, my family history."
"You nervous?"
"Only because Danny keeps saying there's four of them." I admitted. "I guess it's better than five." I said, my stomach doing flips nervously at the thought of having four children growing inside of me, let alone having to raise them.
