Tristan raised his blade prepared to protect me. The minotaurs closed in. "Move Guardian we just want the mundane."

Tristan stepped forward then Cassie pulled out her golden bow and arrow. "Sorry not today."

Why would they want me and why did he call me a mundane? The minotaurs closed in and surrounded us. Some beast riders hovered in the air. Tristan looked at Cassie. "You ready ?"

Cassie looked back at him and smiled. She raised her hand in the air and the winds started to become strong. Her hair started to lift up and her body started to glow. Tristan opened his hands and a white orb formed and his body glowed.

"Now!!" The minotaurs charged as the beast riders flew down drawing swords. I watched stun, it was like a battle out of a fairytale.

Cassie said a silent prayer then pulled her bow and arrow. Tristan threw the orb air and the sky started to become dark. An arrow shot towards the minotaurs and multiplied in different directions.

"Run Sam!!" Tristan yelled and shot another orb at the beast riders.

"I can't leave you..." I pulled out one of Tristan's blades and stood behind him.

Tristan stabbed a Minotaur then pulled his blade out. Cassie whistled and her Trojan horse roared to life. She ran towards it then jumped on and headed towards me. I stabbed a Minotaur then suddenly I felt hands grab me. I turned around and saw Cassie smile back at me. "Hold on it's gonna get rough." She got up and pulled out her arrow then shot it into the air.

The minotaurs started to retreat and the sound of motorcycles could be heard in the distance. Liam and another rider stormed through the forest. "Run you savages!"

Cassie road around in circles forming a protection barrier around Tristan. Liam jumped off his bike and raised his hands and the ocean rose then engulfed the beast riders and some of the minotaurs. When it was finally said and done the enemy had all but disappeared. One beast rider crawled across the floor trying to escape. Tristan walked over bodies blade in hand. I looked as he walked to the injured rider.

"Who sent you sent?" He put a heavy foot on the injured rider.

Liam stood next to Cassie and watched. Liam's partner walked up to me checking for wounds.

"I won't ask you again who sent you?" Tristan's voice turning cold.

The rider looked at Tristan with pain in his eyes. "Master Caspian, he heard about the mundane...said she is valuable."

Tristan put his blade away and lifted up the rider. "You tell them if they want the girl they have to get through me."

The rider nodded weakly, then Tristan threw him to the ground and walked to his bike. Liam and the other guardian got on and we all rode away.

Back in the castle Tristan walked through the halls and residents moved out the way. I followed with Cassie who looked down then Kayla appeared and crossed her arms over her chest. "Caleb wants to see you Cassie."

Cassie looked at me and dropped her shoulders and began to walk towards the main chambers carrying her helmet. Kayla looked back at me and shook her head then walked away. I walked towards Tristan's chambers and knocked on the door.

"Enter."

I opened the door then closed it behind me. Tristan sat in his chair with one leg up.

"Tristan I'm sorry. I should have never came now you all are going to get hurt because of me." Tears flowed down my cheeks.

Tristan got up and walked up to me. He took me in his arms. "Shh don't cry Sam. It's not your fault.... We were ambushed. Caspian is mad, he always want what he can't have. But he won't have you I won't let him."

"Teach me to fight, I want to be able to defend myself. I'm tired of letting people fight my battles for me."

Tristan looked into my eyes like he was searching for something. "Ok follow me." He walked towards the door and opened it.

I walked after him and he led me down the hallway to another set of double doors. It had a Phoenix crest on it. He pushed the door opened and walked inside. I walked in and gently closed the door behind me. It appeared to be a training and tactics room. Cassie was talking to a guy dressed in a black trench coat, short spiky hair and a tattoo on his neck like Tristan's. They turned their attention to us and the guy smiled. He walked up to me and tilted his head to the side. "Ah so you are the visitor that everyone is chatting about."

"Yes I'm-".

"Sam yes I know, I'm Caleb leader of the guardians." Caleb replied.

"I want to learn to fight, I want to help you defend your land from those monsters." I watched as Caleb walked towards the weapons on the walls.

Caleb drew two blades and walked towards me. "Caspian is not your average wizard he is almost one of the first. Do not underestimate him. If we train you we will not go light. You will bleed for me."

I looked at Tristan and he stood silent looking out the window. Caleb looked at Cassie "You will train her." He threw her the sword.

Cassie looked at Tristan, he crossed his arms and shook his head. Caleb threw me a sword. "Then it is settled. This should be fun to watch."

Cassie swung the sword in her hand then assumed battle position. "Just follow me Sam."

I nodded and ran my hand across my blade and the metal started to glow. Suddenly the floor raised up till we reached the top. Other guardians looked on,Liam and the one that was with him crossed their arms.

"Let the training commence!" Caleb yelled.

Just breathe and let the sword guide you.
Cassie charged towards me and I jumped out the way. She smiled "Very good now fight."

She charged at me again and the metal of our swords clashed together. Tristan walked around while keeping his eyes on me. Cassie flipped her hair back and charged towards me again, I quickly spun and rolled to the other side. Caleb got up and walked away. Me and Cassie went at it until I was nice and bruised up. She put her hand out and I took it and she pulled me up. "You did pretty good for a newbie."

"Thanks." I smiled and looked at Tristan and he smiled and shook his head.

Tristan walked up to me and checked my scratches and bruises. I rubbed my arm. "It's ok Tristan I've taken worse beatings."

He lifted a brow and I looked away. He sighed and started to walk away. I ran after him. "Wait... I don't like to talk about my past. Don't go...please."

Kayla watched from the distance and narrowed her eyes then abruptly left.
