We woke up early to continue my training. Kayla was no where to be found and the guardians were preparing for a hostile assault. Cassie trained me for hours until my body ached. Tristan and Caleb took turns watching the tower and Liam added helped the enchantress strengthened the ward around the city.
I took a break and sat down on a log wiping dirt off my hands. Cassie walked up to me and handed me a canteen of water. "Thanks." Took it and sipped it slowly then handed it back to her.
Caleb came down with other guardians with his hands behind his back. "Show me what you have learned Sam."
I looked at Cassie and she winked then took her place in the circle. Some of the citizens looked and pointed. I took a deep breath and took my place in the circle. "Let the battle commence!" Caleb yelled and put his hand up.
Cassie stretched out her hands and a blue flame ignited from them. I lifted up my head and concentrated my energy into my hands. White flames came from them and recited words she taught me. "Natar im". The winds started to get stronger then Cassie aimed her hands at me. I charged towards her and our energies collided. Tristan turned and looked down at me. Cassie shot her energy into the air then pulled out her enchanted bow and softly spoke words. I pulled out my sword and ran towards her, my blade began to glow. She pulled on her mighty bow and aimed it towards the sky then shot it. I was almost near her when the arrows rained down and I put my hand out. A large shield covered me and deflected the bows. She jumped in the air raised her hands and thunder animated from then. I charged towards her with my blade and swiped at her neck. She slid under it shock me with the thunder. I stepped back holding my side.
You wanna play dirty. She smiled as if she understood me and blew a kiss. I grinned and ran towards her and levitated. She slow turned facing me and shot orbs in my direction. I dodged them and spun in the air with my blade and whispered. A fierce force aimed towards her knocking her done. She fell and tried to get up. I walked up to her slowly and the ground started to crack at each step. She looked up then smiled. She used the last of her energy and shot out electricity and I kept walking through the electricity then raised my blade. Cassie looked up at me and my sword swiped down in a swift motion them stopped. Caleb clapped his hands. The other guardians cheered and some of the citizens clapped and congratulated me.
Caleb walked up to me and people moved out the way. Liam and the other elite were behind him. "The prophecies are true, I will be honored to protect you my princess. " He kneeled down and the other guardians followed his lead. I looked at Cassie and Tristan and they both slowly kneeled.
Chamber of the Phoenix, The guardians started getting dressed and preparing their weapons. I slipped on my black cloak and tied my hair is into a braid. I looked at myself in the mirror, I had changed into a matter of days. No longer I was a young confused woman but now a warrior. Cassie walked up to me sword on hip carrying her helmet. "The look becomes you." She smiled.
I turned to her a gave her a smile even though inside I was a nervous wreck. I could die tonight or worse be taken prisoner by Caspian. At least I would go down fighting. The guardian that helped us in the forest walked down. He stood handsomely with long white hair and a eyes a darker shade than Tristan's with a scar on one cheek. "I'm sorry to interrupt you but the army are ready. "
Cassie turned to him. 'Good thanks Malikhai. Have you formally met Sam our new guardian?"
"Briefly, nice to meet you Sam. I'm the healing Mage here if your ever hurt don't hesitate to call on me." Malikhai smiled then walked off.
"Come on Sam lets go to the others." Cassie turned on her heel and walked out the room.
We walked to the tower where Tristan and Caleb were on watch. Cassie stood next to Caleb. "Anything?"
"I see movement in the Far East but the protection ward is holding for now." Caleb turned to us.
I walked up to Tristan and wrapped arms around him. He looked down then kissed me on the forehead. "It's too quiet I don't like it."
Cassie whistled and put her arm out. A few seconds later a eagle flew on to her glove. "Artemis will be our eyes."
She lifted her arm and the bird flew off into the sky. All that could be seen was it's strong wings flying in the air and it disappeared.
Deep in the depths of the forest beyond the ward. Caspian and his soldiers began their journey to the castle. Morgana flew up ahead on her flying . The ground echoed the heavy steps of his army. Artemis reached past the ward and hovered over the forest. Caspian's army came into view and connected it's sight with Cassie.
Cassie's eyes turned to a eagle and images flashed in her mind. She held on to the rail of the tower as the two minds connected. "There here...".
Caleb turned and raised his hand for the signal. Guardians started to swarm to the tower and mages stood by the gates along with people of the city. Artemis started to fly back and the Morgana's beast riders were on it's tail.It swooped down with all it's might and flew into the protection of the ward. Cassie put out her arm and it landed on to her glove. "Good job Artemis". She rubbed it's head and raised the signal for her archer's.
Morgana smiled and raised her hands the sky started to turn red. Mages ran up to the front line and raised their hands. Symbols formed around them and the ward started to glow. Caspian's eyes started to glow and raised his hands. The ward started to weaken. Cassie looked and raised her hand, a ethereal light from the sky came down and covered her archers. Liam went into the forest with his men. They would hold off whoever they can before they could get to the castle. The ward finally fell and Caspian's army went full on assault. "Remember the girl is mine! " He yelled.
The beast riders swarmed over the city as the ground force plowed through the forest. Caspian jumped on a mystical rider and rolled through the guardians. I gathered the women and children deeper away from harm. Caleb drew his sword and jumped off the tower. Mages covered him by saying protection chants.
Cassie put a hand in the air and the sky listened to her beck and call. Eagles and mystical birds began flying from the sky and attacking the flying beasts. Liam raised his hands and the rivers and oceans raised formed twisters. Morgana shot fire orbs at anyone in her way. Tristan slashed and shot enemies in a quick motion.
As I gathered the rest of the people I looked up and a beast rider was running after Mona. I looked around for Izzy and she was on the frontline with the mages. I ran as fast I could towards Mona. She kept running and glancing back. Mona ran into a dead end and looked around. The beast rider smiled and drew out her blades. "End of the line little girl."
I walked behind her and opened my hands. Mona looked behind her and smiled. Once the beast rider noticed it was too late I shot white energy into her. The beast rider fell back. When she attempted to get up Mona walked up to her and yelled, her voice was so powerful and it echoed making the rider hold her ears then she fell out. I looked at Mona and she ran to me. "It's ok little one. I held her tightly.
