Seventeen year old Arnold waited for Helga on her doorstep. He'd come to pick her up for their prom night, and he was very nervous. Yet he couldn't help but feel a bit excited as well. He was going to the prom with one of the hottest girls in school, in his opinion, his wonderful girlfriend.
When the door opened he couldn't help but let his mouth drop open in surprise. She looked even better than what he'd imagined! Helga was wearing a thin-strap pink dress that reached her knees, showing off her lovely legs and her wonderful silver heels. Her hair had been tied up in a fancy bun and her make-up had been kept simple but classy. And all through his staring Helga couldn't help but blush.
"Let's go doofus, we'll be late!"
As they made it to the dance and the night progressed, they started feeling mushy and had to be alone at least for what was left of the night. So they left, and they went to the small bridge at the park where much of their conversations had taken place. And in between sweet words they kissed and hugged, because they needed to feel each other in ways some people still didn't understand.
"I love you, you know," whispered Arnold.
"I do too, football-head."
They stayed there for a long time, being in each other's arms and staring at their eyes. And even though they knew they had to leave- it was sunrise, after all- they didn't move at all. In that moment in time they were unwilling to part ways, they were unwilling to let go.
They were unwilling to return to what awaited them back home.
