BEFORE: I liked you

Finn and I became good friends over the course of 6th grade, along with Hannah and Ian.

Along the way, though, I developed inevitable feelings for him. But it wasn't anything that got in the way of our friendship.

In fact, it made it deeper, somehow, I guess, I don't really know.

That constant feeling of wanting to impress him and wanting to be around him never left, and I guess that's what mainly pushed our friendship to bloom.

By 7th grade, not much has changed, except for Hannah leaving the country.

That year was mostly spent missing Hannah but I knew she wouldn't want me missing out on experiences just because she was on the other side of the world, and that's where Lydia comes in.

She was the new girl, and I, being the sociable and talkative person that I am, befriended her.

We instantly clicked, and before I knew it, we formed a small circle of friends that understood each other's insanity and by 9th grade, we were inseparable.

Finn found his own circle of friends as well, along with Ian, though we never lost contact with each other since our school was small and our friends became each others' friends.

My feelings for him only kept growing over the course of those years. I ignore it, thinking it was just some hormonal phase I had to go through.

Finn, oblivious to my feelings -thanks to my amazing acting skills- explored his hormonal desires, switching from one girl to another to flirt with.

He's now known as the biggest player of our grade.

It didn't faze me, in fact, it distracted me from my feelings for him because he spent less time with our circle of friends and more time with his long list of 'girlfriends'.

"So, when are you gonna do anything about your feelings for Finn?" Lydia asks as we fixed our appearances in front of the comfort room mirror.

"I- what?" I stutter. No one knew about my feelings for Finn, except maybe Hannah who was like across the world away from me.

"Aww," Margot cooed, "You're stuttering, you never stutter,"

I roll my eyes at them, "Can you guys not?"

"I don't hear a denial for the said feelings," Lydia sings.

"Whatever, secret's out, I like him, so what?" I say.

"So you better do something!" Margot exclaims.

"No thank you, I'd rather not involve myself with high school romance that will only lead to drama and distraction," I say, pushing the door open and heading to the hallway.

"You and your mature, stubborn self, Regan," Margot says.

Before I could even ask what that was supposed to mean, Finn joins in on the conversation, poking my side to announce his presence.

I jerk a little before punching his arm.

"Ow!" He winces, "You're getting strong, Regan,"

"Maybe you're just getting weak," I say, smirking.

"Na-ah," he shakes his head, flexing his arms, "See these guns? That ain't weak," he says, kissing his skinny biceps.

Finn was nowhere near buff, he was still skinny and lanky. But he's tall, Finn was tall. And attractive.

"M-hm," I mumble.

"So, where we headed?" He asks, turning his attention to the two girls.

"We were starting to wonder when you'd start acknowledging our presence," I hear Margot say, at the same time Lydia says, "We're headed to the canteen,"

Finn ignores Margot's remark and says, "Sounds good,"

"There's nowhere else to go here, anyway," I point out.

"Always the party pooper you are, sunshine," Finn says, earning an eye roll from me and a giggle of agreement from the girls.
