The days that followed my birthday were blissful.
Finn and I texted day in and day out. I didn't know if it was because we unraveled a new side of our friendship or because we were becoming more than that.
And as pathetic as it sounds, I wanted it to be more than that. Heck, it's all I ever wanted since I met him.
But Finn has a history with girls. A lot of them. Did I really want to be just another one of them? Was I next in line?
I sighed. I'm probably over thinking this. We're probably just becoming better friends. And besides, why would he want someone like me?
"What's up?" Margot asks, dropping her bag on the floor beside our table.
"Ugh," I groan, hitting my head on the table and almost breaking my glasses in the process.
"Our friend here has been texting all week with Mr. you-know-who and she has no idea what it means," Lydia explains.
"Why don't our friend just ask him?" Margot suggests.
"I don't know, I'm a coward!" I exclaim, my head still on top of the table, "What if he thinks I'm weird because I asked?"
"But you are weird, Regan," Lydia says, patting my back.
"Thanks Lyd, I needed that," I lift my head up off the table to glare at Lydia.
She only shrugs.
"You know what?" I say, fixing my hair and adjusting my glasses, "Screw this, I'm being really pathetic. Finn and I are friends. Nothing more, nothing less."
"Except for the part where you like him," Lydia says.
I shot her another glare.
"Who likes who?"
I froze in my seat.
"Are you cheating on me, Regan?" Finn asks, a playful hurt tone lacing his voice.
"We're not even together," I tell him, despite the roar of my pulse.
"But you're my future wifey," he pouts.
"Is this how you hit on girls?" Margot asks, her left eyebrow arched.
"I expected more from you, Finny," Lydia shakes her head.
"Is this 'pick-on-Finn-day'?" He shoots us a glare before sitting next to Margot.
"Isn't that like an every day thing?" Margot asks.
"Oh HA-HA," Finn fake-laughs. "Anyway, there's a carnival just outside of town from tonight 'til Sunday, you guys up for it?"
As he says those words his feet were brushing mine. At first, I thought they were by accident, but then it wasn't and I later realized that I was doing it back to him. What is this?
"Are you asking all of us or just one particular someone?" Margot smirks.
Finn locks eyes with me, "Of course I'm asking all of you,"
"Alright, I'll check in with you tonight," Margot say, still not losing her smirk.
"Same here," Lyd says.
"Alright, good!" Finn exclaims, standing up. My feet feel cold without his brushing it. "Text me your answer tonight?" He asks, and I look up to see that the question was directed to me.
"Mhm," I nod and he takes off.
"You are so more than friends!" Lyd says.
"Defo," Margot agrees.
