"Just, okay, turn left and there should be a house just by the corner," I tell Lydia through the phone.

"Errr.." She hums, "Does it have a big tree beside it and a lot of leaves on the lawn?"

"Jackpot!" I say, "Wait, I'll come out to get you,"

It was my birthday and my mom decided it would be nice to invite a few friends over. She knew some of them by names thanks to facebook.

"Hurry it up, granny," I hear Finn say from the other line and I roll my eyes at him.

"Jerk," Margot says as I open the door and both Lydia and I hang up.

"That, he is, Marg, that he is," I laugh, gesturing for the three of them to come in.

"You're lucky it's you birthday," Finn narrows his eyes at me, pulling his eyebrows together as he walks in.

"Happy Birthday, Regan!" Lydia says, wrapping her arms around me in a tight hug.

She lets go shortly and it was Margot's turn, "Happy Birthday, babe,"

"Babe? What are you, lesbo?" Finn cringes at Margot and I.

"Yea, got a problem with that, Homo-hater?" I ask, sticking my tongue out at him while wrapping my arms around Margot's neck even tighter.

Finn opens his mouth to say something before he was abruptly stopped by my mother's voice coming from the kitchen, "Regan!"

"Yea?" I shout back.

"I hear voices, are those your friends?"

"No, they're ghosts, I decided to befriend the dead," I say.

"Oh you're funny, young lady," she says, coming out of the kitchen, "taking advantage of your birthday and sh-" she stops as she spots the trio and grins, "Hi! You must be Regan's ghost buddies,"

"Mom," I say, gesturing to Margot, "This is Margot," then to Lydia, "Lydia," and then to Finn, "and Finnegan,"

Finn narrows his eyes at my direction, scowling, before returning his gaze to my mom, correcting me, "Finn," he says, sticking his hand out to my mom's direction.

My mom shakes her head, "No, no, no, handshakes are too formal, come up here and give me a kiss, all of you," she says, opening her arms out wide.

Finn looked surprised for a moment before he composes himself, gives my mom a cheeky grin and comes up to her to give her a kiss on the cheek, followed by Lydia and Margot.

"You too, young lady," my mom calls at me and I whine for a moment before obeying her.

"Happy Birthday, Regan," she hugs me, kissing my forehead.

"Thanks mom," I groan, "I think you've already fulfilled your mission to embarrass me,"

She lets go and informs me that lunch will be ready soon. She specifically took a day off for my birthday, which I found really sweet. But I wouldn't tell her that.

"I think your mom likes me," Finn tells me, wiggling his brows at me as we all head up to my room.

"You think everyone likes you," I roll my eyes at him.

I lead the way up the staircase and down the hallway, into my room where Finn immediately drops himself onto my bed.

Lydia and Margot head for the couch, plopping down with a thud while pulling their phones out.

I look over to Finn only to find that he was doing the same.

I shrug to myself and walk over to my bed, sitting down on the safest perimeter I could get myself into while Finn was on the bed without my mom thinking anything of it if she ever comes barging in.
