I miss you. His text read and my heart ached.
I know baby, I miss you too. I texted back for the nth time this summer. Just a few weeks more. I followed, assuring him.
Too long babe, I want you here now. He replies and my heart skips a beat like it always does when he's being his cute self; a side he hardly ever shows.
You're too cute. I tell him.
I love you. He texted back.
Laid down on my bed in a fetus position, I pull a pillow in my arms and bury my head in it to hide the blush forming on my cheeks.
Even though he couldn't see me, I found it necessary to hide the effects that Reid had on me.
I love you too. I reply.
I put my phone down, or rather, dropped in on my bed, where it bounced once.
It was a summer afternoon and I have yet again spent it in my room.
The door flies open only to show my little sister, Ramona.
"I'm bored," She states, before plopping down on top of me.
"Get your heavy self off me!" I protest.
She stays on top of me for a moment before rolling off to the bed.
"How's it going in paradise?" Ramona asks.
"What the hell?" I laughed.
"What?" She shrugs. "I'm bored okay?"
I roll my eyes at her, taking my phone out to read a text from Reid.
"Have you told him yet?" She asks suddenly.
"Told who what?" I ask, even though I already knew what she was talking about.
"Told Reid that Finn's coming back," She states.
"Actually, no," I tell her honestly, putting my phone down after replying to Reid. "I'm having a hard time comprehending the idea of him coming back,"
"Don't tell me you actually think it's false rumor," She says. She knows my brain too well.
"Uhm..." I hum. "Is it bad if I do?"
A common friend of Finn and mine told me he was planning on coming back, but I didn't ponder on it until a few other people who knew him kept verifying the news.
Finn was mostly popular for the parties he threw at his house so it wasn't a surprise that a lot of people knew about his comeback.
"Do you even care if it is?"
"Probably not," I shrug. "But there's nothing to worry about, it's just Finn."
"Mhm," My sister hummed. "Keep telling yourself that."
She stood up from my bed and exited my room before I could even respond.
Not long after, my phone started to ring.
"Hello?" I answer after the third ring.
"Hey honey," It was Reid. "I got lazy typing and I really miss your voice."
"You're so cheesy,"
"I know right?" He laughs. A sound I will never get tired of hearing. "Have you heard?" He follows.
"Heard about what?" I asked.
"Finn's coming back," He said.
"Oh,"
"Yeah, oh," The tone of his voice sounded sad and I didn't like it.
"Reid.."
"Regan, I'm fine," He says, calling me by my first name, which meant he was definitely not fine.
"Are you sure?" I ask. The thing with Reid is he has tendencies to over think every possible situation there is.
"Dunno,"
"Babe, I'm over him," I assure him. Reid never trusts the things I say especially when it had something to the with the opposite sex.
"Do you miss him?" He asks.
I never missed him after the break up. All I felt was anger, so, "No," I say flatly.
Before he could say anything again, I say, "Can we not talk about this anymore? It's not even that important. And I thought the reason why you called is because you missed me?"
"Well yeah," He breathes, "Sorry,"
"I miss you too," I say honestly. I knew setting aside the topic will just cause him to over think even more but I wanted nothing to do with Finn anymore. And I want it to stay that way.
We carried on talking about anything and everything until it was dinnertime and all thoughts of Finn were set aside and hopefully forgotten.
