The next day, Eleanor woke up 4 minutes before her alarm clock rang. The others were still asleep as it was only 7 in the morning. She liked a bit of time to herself before the day starts. After showering, she freshened up and dressed into her full school robes, with the Slytherin crest on the left of her chest. Eleanor left her hair as it was.

She grabbed her textbooks for first period and headed down towards the common room. What she didn't expect was seeing Draco Malfoy at the end of the stairs.
"You're up early." Eleanor commented curtly.

Draco snapped his head around at her voice, then slowly, she started to descend from the staircase. When she came into full view, Draco thought she looked beautiful in the robes, especially with the color of Slytherin, the house he looked up to so much. He knew for sure no one could pull it off better than her.

"Morning." He said with a slight blush. Eleanor passed him by nonchalantly and sat on the leather couch, then opened her course book and continued from where she left off. Draco eventually took a seat beside her, and they had the whole common room to themselves.

Eleanor didn't knew what to make of him. Was she supposed to hate him? She vaguely remembered his expression by the lake at Spinner's End. She genuinely wanted to cheer him up. But now.. she kind of regretted.

Draco wanted to say something to ease the tension, but his words were quickly swallowed back all the same. As more students fill the Slytherin common room, including Leah and the others, the prefects gave some notices about passwords and curfew timing.

Eleanor looked at her pocket watch and made her way to the Great Hall for breakfast, without waiting for anyone. Draco had no choice but to leave her and go with Crabbe and Goyle. Leah too, with the girls.

Breakfast was scrumptious, although not as fancy as the start-of-term feast but Eleanor didn't mind. She couldn't eat much either.

Before the bell chimed 9 o'clock, Eleanor was already in her seats in Professor McGonagall's classroom, ready for her first Transfiguration lesson.

"Can I sit next to you..?" Leah asked brightly with a pair of big eyes looking intently at Eleanor. She nodded and Leah beamed widely, then slid right next to her instantly. Eleanor didn't mind her honestly. She's her first acquaintance here anyway. "Go on."
"Thank you." Leah smiled.

"Can any of you tell me, what is Transfiguration?" Prof. McGonagall asked. Hermione shot up her hands and answered, "Transfiguration is a branch of magic that focuses on the alteration of the form and appearance of an object. It is some of the most complex and dangerous magic that is governed by many natural and legal limitations."

"Very good Ms. Granger. I want all of you to now write a short essay on the principles of Transfiguration and its sub-branches, followed by Gamp's Law of Elemental Transfiguration." After which, she turned herself into her animagus form, a grey tabby cat. Although some of the students already knew Prof. McGonagall was an animagus, but still to see in person was a whole different experience.

Everyone in the classroom turned their textbook and began writing. Not long later, the door was pushed open and Harry and Ron rushed in. He huffed out in relief, "Phew can you imagine the look on McGonagall's face if we're late??"

She turned back and towered above the two boys sternly. Seeing it was their first lesson, Prof. McGonagall let them go and told them to go to their seats. Soon enough the bell chimed and the students rushed out to their next lesson - Charms.

Eleanor realized it was a shared class again with the Gryffindors. Charms class flew by swiftly and then it was lunch time. Eleanor watched Ron and Hermione at the Gryffindor table with much difficulty and decided to head over to talk to them.

"Hey." She greeted. "Hey Eleanor!" Ron smiled and gestured her to sit down. She gave her thanks, but the looks of other Gryffindor seemed as unwelcoming as they could be.
"Where's Harry?" She asked.
"Oh he went back to his dormitory."
"There's been something I wanted to ask you Ron. Why does everyone seemed to know Harry before he came to school..?"

"What? You seriously don't know? Harry is the boy who lived!" Ron went on blabbering about what happened to Harry when he was just a baby and the scar on his forehead.
"You-know-who gave him that scar.." Hermione added for good measure. Eleanor nodded solemnly. So he's another child who doesn't have his parents, she thought. Although Eleanor's childhood wasn't as tragic as Harry, she somehow felt she understood.

"Anyway.." Ron said awkwardly, "Congratulations.. you know being sorted to Slytherin.." He gave a sad smile. Eleanor returned with a kind smile and told him not to worry about her. "So.. Friends?" Eleanor truly wanted to befriend Ron, and Hermione and Harry. Something about them gave her a comfortable and fuzzy feeling inside.

So she shook hands with Ron and Hermione, then returned to the Slytherin table and continued studying.

"You know you shouldn't do that.." Leah brought up her thoughts finally. Naturally Eleanor knew what she was talking about.
"They're nice people." She stated simply. Leah was afraid for Eleanor, scared that she would be picked on one day. Everyone knows the long time rivalry between Slytherin and Gryffindor.

Eleanor sighed when she saw her troubled looks. She don't know whether to be happy or annoyed that she's bothered to warn her.

"Good afternoon Mdm. Hooch."
"Good afternoon class. Welcome to your first flying lesson. Everyone, step up to the left side of your broomstick, and place your right hand over the broom and say 'up'."
"Up!"
"UP!"

The training ground was instantly buzzing with excitement. After a few attempts, Eleanor got her broomstick in her hands, around the same time as Draco.

"Now remember, posture is very important in flying." Mdm. Hooch explained how to grip and kick properly. Once she blew her whistle for us to try lifting ourselves in the air, Neville Longbottom from Gryffindor rose up to the air uncontrollably.

"M-mr. Longbottom..! Get back here right now!" Mdm Hooch exclaimed.
"Ahh! Help!" Neville screamed as the broom flew him around in all sorts of direction and the class gathered around, half of them worried half of them mocking.

Finally Neville fell from his broom and broke his wrist. "I want everyone to keep their feet on the ground until I get back from the hospital wing. Understand?"
"Yes Mdm Hooch."

"Do you think he'll be alright?" Hermione asked Eleanor.

"Did you see his face?" Draco half grinned while rotating Neville's Remembrall in his hand. "Maybe if the fat lump had given this a squeeze, he'd have remembered to fall on his fat ass!" The Slytherins laughed at Draco's insult while Gryffindors were holding back their anger.

"Give it back Malfoy!" Harry shouted, narrowing his eyes at Draco. He turned. "No. I think I'll leave it somewhere for Longbottom to find." Then he got on his broomstick and flew up towards the roof.

"No, Harry you can't! Besides, you don't even know how to fly!" Hermione advised. But it fell on deaf ears as Harry rode his broom and with a swoosh he was off the ground and chasing Draco. "What an idiot." She frowned.

Eleanor watched the two boys arguing in the air silently. From here, the group couldn't hear a single thing Harry and Draco was saying. Soon, they saw Draco throwing the Remembrall as if it was a baseball and Harry sped off to catch it. Just as he was about to hit a window, Harry caught the Remembrall and safely and flew back down.

The whole of Gryffindor was then cheering for Harry, glad that he took one for Gryffindor and proved Draco wrong.

Draco was scowling at the bunch of them, sprouting insults in his head about how pathetic these Gryffindors are. But he wasn't happy with Harry the most. Saint Potter!

Eleanor stood at the back where she seemed almost out of the picture.
"A-are you alright?" Leah asked her. She nodded in response and couldn't wait for the rest of the class to be over.
