Does nobody read this? :( ok.
I was rather looking forward to this.. sorry for the super longggggg update. I hope more people would comment and read this story!!Eleanor struggled with some of her school stuff since Baxter couldn't help her with shopping this year. She toggled some new equipment in one hand and the other holding onto the list of items.
"One bottle of mandrake growth essence..." A busy passerby knocked onto her shoulders forcefully, sending her things flying onto the muddy floor. She disregarded his brief apology and bent down to quickly gather her stuff. She continued on and the scenery started to become unfamiliar to her gradually. Wait, is this still diagon alley?
She looked around flustered, spotting a shop with Borgin's and Burkes on its signboard. In a heartbeat she backed into the dark alley when she saw Draco and his father entering the shop.
As suspiciously as they looked, she peeped from the corner and saw his father nearly smashed his fingers off using his cane.
"What did I say, Draco?" She could only hear a little, muffled voices.
"Touch nothing. Sorry father." Lucious Malfoy looked down at him with his nose pointed, his eyes boring into Draco just like he would to everyone else who annoys him.Draco stilled for a moment obediently, yet his eyes darted around curiously as he toured the shop filled with dark artifacts. After Lucius had finished his business, he pushed Draco harshly out of Borgins and Burkes, reprimanding him.
Eleanor came out from the shadows, her brows furrowed at his treatment from his father. She didn't expect him to have a side like this before.
When she was pushed over suddenly again, she let out a loud groan and turned around, only to see Harry panicking away from the shop.
"Are you alright Harry?" She asked. He snapped his head around obviously glad to see a familiar face amongst this ominous place.
"Look at you.. You're a mess." She fished out her handkerchief and wiped off some of the dirt on his face. Harry was guilty that despite the odd situation they found themselves in, he couldn't help his crazy heart from beating fast at her touch. "There you go. Oculus reparo." She fixed his glasses and Harry shyly murmured a thanks. Together, they managed to find their way back, not without being harassed by strange and scary looking witches of course.
"Phew.. that was close." Harry said.
"Harry! Eleanor! Where were you!" Hermione shouted gleefully, guiding them into Flourish and blotts for them to get their second year book supplies.".. join us in welcoming Mr Gilderoy Lockhart!" A man with a large grin on his face appeared, trying to charm all the ladies in the crowd with his 100 watts smile. Eleanor raised her eyebrows at him while Hermione was smitten like a true fan. "Mum fancies him." Ron said to Harry, earning a slap on the back of his head by Molly.
After the very dramatic entrance and introduction of Gilderoy Lockhart, the young ones were going to wait outside but out came Draco who descended from the stairs and blocked the way.
"Bet you loved that didn't you Potter??" He spat. "Famous Harry Potter. Can't even go to a bookshop without making the front page!"
Eleanor looked at him coldly from the back, suddenly remembering that obedience and scared look he gave when his father scolded him just now.
"Leave him alone." Ginny stood in front of Harry protectively. "Oh look Potter. You got yourself a girlfriend!" He snickered before that silver headed snake landed onto his shoulder pushing him aside to reveal Lucius Malfoy.
"Now now play nicely Draco." He smirked at all the pathetic faces of the Weasley children, all snarling at him, wishing they can bite his face off. Arthur Weasley, Ron's father came shortly after. A few sarcastic remarks were thrown at each other, Lucius was done insulting them and then strolled out of the store.
Once the group left, Eleanor was lagged behind and so was Draco. Only when he turned back did he saw Eleanor.
He ran over and pulled her to the side. Now looking closely at her, spotting the same black coat with the silver and green serpent crest sewn on the chest. Unlikely the Weasley dirty with ashes and dirt of their face, she was clean and elegant, like the pride of a pure blood witch. And she smells of cherry blossoms. He grinned like a boy at that thought. It's been too long since he last saw her.
"Eleanor.. I've missed you." He held her soft hands while she tried to pull them out of his grasp. "Draco, stop.." She said, suddenly embarrassed. But she didn't let it show of course, only her standard frowning face. Draco thought she must be angry at him for insulting the gryffindors she called friends. But he didn't mind, as long as she's near him he's contented.
Just as he was about to touch her wavy black hair, she flinched her head away and ran off to the Weasleys. He smiled to himself and felt his palms before joining his father.
Lucius had saw everything that happened and that silly airheaded look his son was giving. "Snap out of it Draco."
"Yes father." He turned solemn at once and walked beside his father. He pondered for a second and thought perhaps not a bad idea to put a Prince in his family. Looking at the blonde boy sideways, he asked, "You like her that much?"
"Yes... father. I do" He admitted with a bit of hesitance. There was a moment of strangling silence before he spoke again. Lucius smirked.
"Good."
