I woke up early the next morning. I expected to be on the edge of my side of the bed, but I found myself wrapped in Xiumin's arms, my head resting against his shoulder. The sun was shining through the blinds of the window, and I knew it was morning. I didn't know how early it was.

I slowly got up, careful not to wake him. I set his arms down on the bed before almost leaving it, until the arm closest to me grabbed my wrist. "Where do you think you're going?" Xiumin asked, his voice hoarse. I could have died, it was so hot.

"Um..."

"You didn't sleep enough hours last night. Come on. We have more time to sleep in." He gently pulled my arm, and I gave in. I climbed back in bed with him, and he adjusted his body so that I could rest my head against his shoulder more comfortably. It didn't take me long to drift back to sleep again.

"Oh my gosh . No!"

I opened my eyes and sat up, looking around. No one was in here, but my heart was beating fast. "Minseok," I said, gently shaking him awake. He stirred, and when he opened his eyes to see me, he smiled. "No, did you hear that?"

"Hear what?"

"I thought I heard Johanna in here but when I opened my eyes she wasn't in here."

Xiumin sat up quickly. "Shit."

"Okay," Chanyeol's deep voice echoed the room as he walked in, "Wake up. Now." He looked at us. "Get the hell out of that bed, Minseok."

Just to be on the safe side, I got out of the bed also. Chanyeol actually looked angry, and I was scared of him like a child should be of their father during discipline.

Chanyeol walked over to Xiumin and started yelling at him in Korean.

"Hey!" I exclaimed. "I don't know what you're saying to him, but this was my fault. I came in here and asked if I could sleep with him. But that's all we did! We just slept."

"Is this true?" Chanyeol asked Xiumin.

Xiumin looked at me, then back at Chanyeol. "She's right that we just slept. Nothing else happened. But I asked her to come in here. She didn't ask me."

"You idiot!" Chanyeol threw a punch at Xiumin's face, hitting his jaw. "I told you! I told you nothing happens between you two!"

"Stop!" I shouted, running in front of Xiumin. "It was me. He listened to you. Okay?"

"Bree, stop it," Xiumin said, grabbing my shoulders from the back and moving me aside.

"Don't even touch her, Minseok."

"Where's Johanna? I can explain it," I said.

"No, Johanna is trying to relax. Her heart rate is too fast this morning and needs to lower it before flying," Chanyeol said. "Okay, Aubree. Explain it to me."

"Okay, I like Xiumin a lot. And he actually makes me feel better. I'm getting better because of him--"

"By sleeping with him?" Chanyeol questioned, crossing his arms.

"I already told you, I asked her to sleep in here," Xiumin said. "Let her be."

"Minseok, shut the hell up," Chanyeol said.

"I just wanted to sleep with him to feel protected. And I did," I explained. "A month is hard to get through."

"And it might be longer," Chanyeol said. "Maybe Johanna and I won't take you in for the summer. We wouldn't want to find Minseok in your bed unexpectedly." He shook his head. "Pack your things, Minseok. We're leaving in an hour." He walked out.

"An hour?" Xiumin said under his breath. He began looking around the room.

"I'm sorry."

"For what?" Xiumin demanded.

"For sleeping with you! I don't know why you tried to take the blame--"

"Because it looks better for you. I'm a guy; of course I would do something like this. But I don't want Chanyeol and Johanna thinking you're that dependent. And I know you're not. You've grown so much and gotten so much better since last month." He had stopped rummaging through the room by now, and was standing and looking at me. "I have to go shower and pack, so you need to leave for a bit."

I nodded. As I walked toward the door, I heard Xiumin wincing in pain. "God."

I turned back around and to Xiumin, as he was holding his jaw. "Are you okay?"

"That idiot." He shook his head. "He didn't have to punch me. Especially since a bruise will be there by the time they get airport pictures of us."

"I'm sorry--"

"Bree. Stop apologizing."

I nodded and looked away. Xiumin exhaled. "Bree." He walked over to me, and pulled me into a hug, wrapping his arms around my body as I wrapped mine around his neck. He buried his face in my shoulder, and we stood like that for a long time. "We'll fix this. I don't regret sleeping with you at all." He let go. "Now get out of my room so I can shower."

I walked out of his room, and about an hour later, I met them all downstairs. "Are we ready to go?" I asked, grabbing my keys."

"Aubree, you won't be driving us to the airport," Johanna said.

"We got a cab," Chanyeol said. "We say goodbye here."

"Um, okay," I said hesitantly, trying to ignore how awful this felt. "Be safe." I hugged Johanna first, then Chanyeol, then Xiumin. Xiumin held me longer than I thought, and it made me nervous. Were they serious about not letting me stay in Korea for the summer?

"Minseok." Chanyeol smacked Xiumin's arm. "That's enough."

Xiumin pulled away, and it was the worst feeling. There was a lump in my throat, and I couldn't say anything. Chanyeol checked out the front door. "Cabs here. Time to go. We'll call when we get to Seoul." I nodded. I followed them outside, and I stayed on the porch, watching them walk away.

I wanted to kiss Xiumin.

Why didn't I kiss him this morning? Or when he hugged me?

I visualized him turning and running to me, and then grabbing my face and kissing me. Chanyeol and Johanna would be yelling at Xiumin, but he would ignore them.

But that never happened.

And I saw them drive away.

I walked back inside. "Hello?" I called. "Mom? Dad?" I walked into the kitchen, and found a note.

Aubree,
Your dad and I went on another trip over the weekend. The fridge should be full, make sure to eat whatever you like!
-Mom

I grabbed the note and ripped it, then rolled it up into a ball and threw it against the wall, screaming.

My screaming soon turned to exhausted sobs, until no more tears could come out.

I felt so alone.
