Flashback

"Sophia? What do you want? Coffee or tea?" I yelled from the kitchen, opening the cabinets to find two clean cups. Not like I'll find any. There was milk splashed everywhere from my last attempt to bake a cake and I was trying not to slip on the floor. I have been wiping the floor for about thirty minutes now but decided to take a break in between and then clean the whole place up a little.

Waiting for her response I poured myself some coffee and started looking for sugar in this very messy place we call kitchen. Looking at every direction I finally found it standing on the cabinet besides the refrigerator and grabbing it I opened the window with my other hand letting the soft gusts of wind blow strongly into the kitchen. The streets were a little crowded, everyone probably going back home from work.

I heard no reply from her so I yelled again. "Sophia?" Me and sophia have been best friends for a couple of years now. She has a boyfriend, Liam. And I'm single. Not that I'm complaining. With all these boyfriend issues Sophia has I haven't really been motivated to be with anyone. Sophia is the nicest person you'll ever meet in your life. When we first met I was a very antisocial person and Sophia was the one that tried to get to know me as long as I wasn't really good at making friends. I wouldn't open up to anyone but she'd always talk to me and help me with everything. Now she's almost like my sister.

I groaned under my breath when I again heard nothing. So I just decided to make her coffee as well as me. I'm not sure if we had tea at all even if she wanted cause we mostly drink coffee, but we also have tea in case we had a guest or something, that I assume we've ran out of today.

When I was pouring the coffee in her cup, I heard a loud 'oh my god' scream from the living room.

A few drops of the coffee spilled over my hand as I put it down and rushed to see what has happened. Did anybody hurt her? Is anybody in the house? Wait has she gotten her period?

I continued running towards her sitting figure on the couch. She was holding her phone to her ear and her hand over her mouth while tears were pouring down her cheek along with her mascara.

I admit I was a bit relieved that she hasn't gotten her pe- I mean obviously that there isn't any intruders in the house, but that relief vanished soon as I was just looking at my best friend crying her eyes out.

"Sophia? Sophia what happened?" I said. Panic was evident in my voice. I sat down next to her and quickly put a strand of my hair behind my ear. Even though I'm the worst at calming people down but I tried my best to soothe her to find out what has happened.

"It's..... Liam..... He....." She stuttered between sobs.
"What happened? Calm down please. Shhh." I tried to calm her down, patting her back softly and waiting for her to answer.

"He's in jail!" She said and then lost it. She was crying her eyes out.

I was shocked and my eyes were wide open. What? Liam? Jail?

 What? Liam? Jail?
