I'm so stupid. I shouldn't have left him alone.

I drove for what seemed like hours downtown by all the local shit bars we usually loiter at.

Finally on a park bench with one streetlight barely illuminating the area, a lone Jared sat, head in his hands.

I struggled to parallel park before jumping out of my SUV and marching up to him.

"What the hell were you thinking? Don't scare me like that!"

He looked up at me with wet cheeks and glossy green eyes.I

I crouched down so I was eye-to-eye with him.

"Look I-"

He threw himself on me and wrapped his arms around my neck. I couldn't help but put my hands on the small of his back and rub circles.

"I'm sorry. I am not sure what exactly I did bu-"

"Just shut. up." He said muffled against my neck.

I noticed a red rag around his hand. I pulled him off of me.

"What happened?" I said sincercely.

He just shook his head as another tear fell from his perfect puppy dog eyes.

"Come home with me. Please. Let's figure this out, man"

I stood up and hunched his left side over my shoulder and guided him to the passenger side of the vehicle.

The ride home was silent except for the occasional winces from Jared adjusting the disgusting rag on his hand.

We arrived at the garage park. I shifted into park and sighed heavily.

I looked over to see Jared with his head pressed against the window.

"Look at me, please Jare."

He looked over but refused to make eye contact.

I tipped his head up with my index finger.

"Look at me... I'll always be here."

I cupped his head in my hands and wiped the tear stains with a swipe of my thumbs.

"Are you gonna tell me what this was all about now?"

"I'm not sure what came over me...I was just overthinking things I guess...that kis-"

"I meant it. I meant it with everything in me."

"Y-you-"

"Yes, Jared. I care for you so tremendously, I know you need a lot of reassurance, I'm not sure how to provide that to you. I don't know what I'm doing or how to help you, but I'm willing to figure it out."

Jared nodded and wiped his eyes.

"C'mon let's get you cleaned up and in bed."

"Wait-" He said. I turned my attention back to the poor boy in my passenger seat.

"Always...ok?"

"Always."
