Chapter 14

-Levi's POV-

I heard a loud bang on the front door, along with a scream from Farlan. Jumping up to my feet, I looked back down at the troubled girl under my feet. What could I do? 

A final bang erupted down the hallway as I heard screams and shouts. Running towards the end of the hallway, I found Farlan hugging Isabel tightly. "Farlan!" I yelled as I ran up to him.

"I-I'm sorry, Your Highness...leave without us and bring Mikasa. Quick, I'll hold them back." Farlan shuddered, then coughed out, tears leaving cold streaks on his eyes. 

"I'll find a way." I looked sternly at him, "With no regrets."

I looked back toward the sound of the door and started to run towards it. There was nothing else I could do. Soon, I heard the clashing of sword against sword. A sharp, painful scream shot through me as I heard someone fall to the ground. From far away, I could see someone on a horse--Prince Jean. Knowing him, he is usually peaceful. I could never understand why he would do such a thing. 

"Jean!" I called out, "Jean!"

He cocked his head at me, eyes red with madness and destruction. "What?" His mouth curled into an eerie grin, "Scared?"

I spat at the ground, "Not of you..."

Jean's smile quickly turned into smacking of lips, "How about the girl, where is she now?"

I looked aghast as Mikasa was dragged in and dropped in front of me. 

He smiled as he drew his sword from his belt, "Well, you'll go first!" 

I was frozen stiff as the sword lunged at me, unable to block or move. Wincing, I heard a scream of pain. Was it mine? Was it his? Was it Mikasa? Blood landed on my face as I slowly opened my eyes. A knife sliced Jean's throat in half, while the other hand was on his sword. 

"M-Mikasa?" I dropped to my knees as the girl tossed the knife to the side. 

"W-What?" Jean coughed before slouching down. Mikasa felt the pulse on his throat as his soul left him. 

"What did you do that for?" I muttered, as my vision turned to black. Was this a dream?
