I had school this morning, and Ross made sure I was there. He personally escorts me in at this point, in fear of me quitting college to get more involved in R5. He even shows up five minutes early at the end of class, just so that he could escort me out to his car. A lot of people, especially my classmates think it's adorable, but I hate it. Don't get me wrong, I understand his motive, but I really want to put all of my time into managing. If that's what I'm in college for, isn't real life experience better than classroom? Whatever.
Since I called in half of the venues for booking, my phone hasn't stopped going off. Venues accepted the dates in seconds, and venues close to them wanted shows too. It came to the point where I had to leave it on a charger all day with Ryland and Riker taking shifts to answer. I did my homework and spent the rest of the night after that I was taking calls. Dates were planned for six months from now, when the year is finished and my mom will hopefully let me quit. I booked a tour bus, and even started writing a list for tour essentials. Everything was falling into place. Of course, that was until a record company called.
"Our studios are booked, but we would really love to have you. Stop by our office sometime."
The secretary finished the call with an address. Ryland was sitting next to me, gaping. As soon as I got off the phone, Ryland called Riker in to take the phone for a while while I drove with Ryland to Capitol Records.
"Don't tell anyone until we have the contract. Read it over first too. Before you put it in front of Ross we have to make sure we aren't enslaving us like last time." I nodded, and we both headed in.
We came in wanting the contract, and we left with it. Ryland pretended to be incredibly busy, and I followed him in with his phone next to my ear, pretending to be on the phone for him. It worked, of course. Soon enough I was driving back to the apartment with Ry, and he was reading the contract to me.
As soon as we walked through the door, Ross almost tackled me. "Come on! I wrote a new song that I wanna show you!" He turned toward the porch area where Rydel was hanging out. "Del! She's ready!" Rydel headed downstairs, and he turned back to me.
"Sorry Ross, I can't. I have to read something over with Ryland." Big mistake.
"But Sar-" He began to whine but then saw the packet in my arms. "What's that?" Ryland and I exchanged glances.
"None of your business." Ryland took the packet and walked to his room. Ross followed him of course. In a couple seconds, Ross was running through the house with the packet in his hands, and Ryland was standing in the doorway to his room. We couldn't keep him away. Around the time I had to leave for school that afternoon, he had read through half of the packet.
"Why did you try and keep it from me?" He asked.
"We wanted to read it over first."
"Oh." He was silent for a minute as he parked. "Hey Sarah?"
"Yeah?"
"If we take this record deal, can you still be our manager?"
"I don't know, I'm sure it says somewhere in the contract."
"If it says you can't be our manager anymore, then I refuse to take it." Both of us were quiet until he lead me into my class. "Bye! Have an awesome day! Love you!" He left me in class, and when it started, my mind was not in the lesson. What if I can't be R5's manager? What if all this time I've wasted my time? What would Ross and I be? The last question stuck in my head, and wouldn't leave. What if he gets too famous for his fans? What if he gets too famous for me?
