Hanging up the phone and crossing the road, Emery thought of fate and destiny. She thought of the great things that it had brought to her life. Fate gave her the best friends she could ever ask for. It gave her the chance to be an inspiration to people from all across the world. It was fate that made her so lucky to be doing something that made her and other people happy. It was as if she was destined to have these amazing people surrounding her, family, friends, and someone she held very much close to her heart to show her that she was loved. It was fate that lead her to do great things in life she never thought she would succeed in. But of course, fate has its cruel twists. Fate tested her and everyone else for countless of times, throwing events in their life which would cause anyone to feel like giving up. Her father died when she was at a young age. Growing up, it seems as if fate wanted her to be alone and secluded. Fate brought the Impala to almost hit her when she was on her way to lunch with some friends.

It was also a horrible fate that caused a drunk, young man driving a car to speed past the traffic lights that displayed red ever so brightly.

And so, Emery Grace crossed the road, but never got to the other side.

"Jim, that looks fantastic. Thanks!" Joe praised as he saw the small decorations Jim and Tanya were hanging around on the trees. The park was empty and it was getting dark. The fairy lights hanging from the trees made everything look amazing.

"Joe, calm down. You know, even without all this, Emery would say yes." Zoe gestured to the small box her brother was holding. She noticed her brother pacing around, looking nervous as he checked if things were in order.

It was tonight. Joe decided to finally ask the big question. He's been planning to for quite a while. Their friends are helping him set up the park. When he told them the plan, they were excited as well and wanted to help. Constantly, they would comment about how it was about time and that Joe didn't need to worry. But if Joe was to be honest? He thinks the question has been long overdue as well. There is always an unmistakable sign of joy and excitement on his face whenever he thinks of the ring in his hand being on Emery's finger.

A ringtone sounded through their area in the park, loud enough for everyone to hear. Several heads turned to find the source. Joe, upon realising that it was his, brought out his phone. His eyes lit up and Zoe asked everyone to keep quiet when she found out who it was.

"Hello, love. Are you home yet?" Joe asked with a huge smile. He left a letter for her on the kitchen counter. It was just a short one. He asked help from Tanya to make a one stanza poem, and even then it was horrible, in his opinion. Then Joe told her to go to the park.

It's quite incredible how everything can just go wrong so easily. One mistake in a solution would make your answer wrong for math. When one domino falls, the rest follows. Drop a plate to the ground and it smashes to a million pieces. A wrong note in a piano performance can completely destroy the mood. If a page is missing from a book, the story is incomplete. And probably one of the most heartbreaking experience anyone could go through was hearing a couple of words and seeing your world just turn black and white. And the soft, compassionate voice in the phone spoke with words that broke Joe's heart.

"Sir, this is Georgetown Medical Hospital. And I'm very sorry to inform you..."
